We are looking for a Senior Statistical Support Analyst to join the Statistical Promotion and Analysis team at National Records of Scotland (NRS) on a fixed-term Fair and Open contract until 31 March 2027. The Statistical Promotion and Analysis team is responsible for driving innovation and improvement in statistical outputs.

In this role you will lead programme of work to develop and embedReproducible Analytical Pipelines (RAPs) across NRS to help deliver our vision.This role is central to modernising the way we produce official statistics and analytical outputs.

Responsibilities
  • Lead a programme of work to identify opportunities to enhance analytical processes by developing Reproducible Analytical Pipelines (RAPs) thereby improving efficiency and optimising resource use.
  • Design and develop Reproducible Analytical Pipelines using R and Git.
  • Automate the production of official statistics and analytical reports in line with the Government Statistical Service (GSS) RAP principles.
  • Collaborate with statistical teams and stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into robust automated workflows.
  • Ensure code quality version control and documentation standards are upheld.
  • Lead the development of internal RAP standards guidance and training materials.
  • Provide coaching and support to statisticians to develop RAPs
  • Line management of two B2 Statistical Support Analysts
Qualifications

Candidates need to provide evidence ofoneof the following:

  • A minimum of a 2:2 undergraduate degree or a masters degree or PhD demonstrating how your qualifications contain formal training on statistics or data OR
  • Sufficient experience in a statistics or data related field as well as a minimum of a 2:2 undergraduate degree or a masters degree or PhD.

This role is a temporary position with an expected commitment of 11 months.
