Senior Data Engineer

As a Senior Data Engineer you will build the data foundation that powers the Oscar platform. This role is focused on scalable ingestion and cross-cloud integration enabling expansion of the platforms knowledge base and downstream AI capabilities.

This position will offer flexibility for hybrid work schedules to include both in-office presence and telecommute/virtual work to be based from either Houston or Dallas TX.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and build scalable production-grade data ingestion pipelines
• Enable and optimize data integration across Azure and AWS environments
• Own data modeling and transformation to support AI and analytics use cases
• Ensure data quality reliability and observability across pipelines
• Partner with platform and AI teams to support evolving data needs
• Drive best practices for performance cost and scalability

Qualifications :

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelors Degree plus at least 8 years of data engineering experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
• Strong experience with ETL/ELT pipelines and large-scale data systems
• Hands-on experience with Azure and AWS data services
• Microsoft Azure hands-on: Azure Data Factory (ADF) Azure Synapse Analytics Azure SQL Database Azure AI Services
• Hand-on building data replication and synchronization between AWS and Azure using ADF and Synapse or Azure SQL
•  Proven experience with API-based and event-driven data integration patterns
• Familiarity with Data Lake architecture (AWS S3 with Lake Formation governance)
• Proficiency in Python SQL and data processing frameworks
• Experience building a reliable production-grade data pipeline

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with cross-cloud architectures and integrations
• Exposure to AI/ML data pipelines or feature stores
• Familiarity with attribute-Based Access Control (ABAC) using AWS Lake Formation tags
• Amazon Web Services (AWS): S3 Data Lake Lake Formation (Tag-Based ABAC) IAM Glue Lambda
• Monitoring & logging (Azure Monitor AWS CloudWatch)
