In accordance with the Vision Purpose and Values and strategic direction of the Vancouver Island Health Authority (Island Health) patient and staff safety is a priority and a responsibility shared by everyone; as such the requirement to continuously improve quality and safety is inherent in all aspects of this position.

Reporting to the Director or designate the Manager Clinical Learning Capacity & Advanced Training (CLCAT) is responsible for leading the Clinical Learning Capacity and the Advanced Training teams. The Manager provides day to day operational leadership for these teams in line with the CLKS strategic work plan and Island Health strategic priorities.

Working in collaboration with other members of the CLKS accountable leaders group the Manager CLCAT grows Island Healths distributed learning network by enabling clinical educators managers and resources teams to implement change initiatives maintain practice standards provide clinical training teaching and learning and build a culture of learning at Island Health. The Manager is also responsible for overseeing implementation of Island Healths Advanced Training program including specialty nursing learning pathways and other career development learning pathways for care team staff.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education Training And Experience

A level of education training and experience equivalent to a Masters degree in health sciences and seven (7) years related experience in clinical education or leadership change implementation clinical practice support and adult teaching and learning. Practicing registration in a clinical discipline is preferred but not required.

Skills And Abilities

  • Collaborative person-centred leadership skills .
  • Demonstrated ability to lead practice change and enable learning in clinical environments .
  • Demonstrated ability to develop high quality learning assets and proactive lifecycle management of learning assets to ensure learning assets are current reflective of best practices and evidence-informed.
  • Robust understanding of post-secondary programs funding models and curriculum design approaches for specialty nursing and other advanced training opportunities in health care in BC.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple conflicting demands and priorities in alignment with work plans and organizational goals.
  • Excellent communication skills and relational practice skills with the ability to engage diverse stakeholders author high level documents and plans and collaboratively lead creative and innovative approaches to learning.
  • Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with stakeholder and user groups and staff at all levels of the organization.
  • Completion of cultural safety and humility learning and willingness to continue engaging in learning on cultural safety humility racism and other forms of oppression and harm in health care.
  • Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
