Responsibilities/Scope
In this role you will apply your expertise and ownership through the NPI engineering and production phases to successfully ramp display modules from upstream components to module assembly/integration and end-of-line test. You will define and own key performance indicators (KPIs) such as yield process capability cycle time and OEE and will devise and lead improvement plans to meet these targets. You will work closely with external partners to proactively identify and resolve technical and operational risks and drive containment failure analysis and corrective actions for technical issues.
- Serve as the primary owner for display system test sustaining during volume manufacturing ramp including node-to-node correlation rapid issue resolution and meeting UPH and OEE targets.
- Implementation and sustaining of manufacturing test strategy during production phase of product lifecycle. Work with Engineering and vendor test teams to design and assemble bench setups and test fixtures
- Work directly with the factory test engineers providing guidance and support as necessary in test methods equipment and test set-up
- Coordination of and travel to suppliers (foreign and domestic) to establish technical and manufacturing processes required during product development and volume manufacturing ramp
- Create Ramp/MP readiness dashboards with cross-functional team (R&D HW Engineering HW Test Quality and GSM partners).
- Drive yield improvement process troubleshooting failure analysis and corrective action (FACA) with contract manufacturing (CM) partners and communicate through Yield Bridge charts FA reports and MIL (major issue lists)
- Baseline cycle time and identify/lead improvement efforts through workstreams such as line balancing process optimization and applying lean principles
- Support data validation for design and process robustness by evaluating limits of design/process windows
Minimum qualifications
- Bachelors Degree in Physics Applied Physics Optics Material Science OR equivalent experience
- 5 years of vendor management experience with demonstrated ability to navigate communication channels between internal and external partners
- 3 years of first-hand experience with optical component and/or module assembly front-end and back-end processes and testing
- 3 years of experience managing test development within a high-volume consumer electronics environment
- Good understanding of fundamental optical principles color spaces imaging systems and the manufacturing processes for display and optical modules
- Familiarity with optical alignment methods active alignment systems and precision motion control in a factory environment
- Demonstrated experience in defining developing and troubleshooting manufacturing test issues
- Knowledge of high-precision assembly equipment processes and materials
- Clear verbal and written communication with cross functional partners and management.
Preferred Qualifications
- 5 years of experience working in HVM environment.
- 3 years of hands-on experience in Design of Experiment (DOE) and statistical process control and data analysis using tools such as JMP Tableau Matlab or equivalent
- In-depth hands-on experience with display & optical testing systems (e.g. using light sources spectrometers colorimeters etc.)
- Demonstrated experience in the technical down-selection and justification of optical metrology tools based on performance specifications such as measurement accuracy repeatability speed cost analysis and long-term maintenance requirements for mass production
- Understanding of module test and manufacturing processes with direct experience managing manufacturing test implementation and execution
- Understanding of manufacturing and operational fundamentals such as Quality Control Plans (QCP) Statistical Process Control (SPC) Change Control Board (CCB) Material Review Board (MRB) Machine and Process Buy-off (MBO/PBO) pFMEA overall equipment efficiency (OEE) units per hour (UPH) etc.
