Type of Employment: Full-Time 40 hours per week.

Period of Performance: Estimated start date: 01 May 2026 30 April 2027.

Estimate Pay: $47.04 per hour based on experience.

Paid Time Off per Year: Up to 80 hours per year occurring on day one.

Sick Leave per Year: Up to 56 hours per year occurring on day one.

Paid Federal Holidays: Eleven (11) Paid Federal Holidays

Working Hours

The Ultrasound Technician will normally be scheduled for work Monday through Friday 6:00 am to 4:00 pm with a 30-minute unpaid lunch break. The Ultrasound Technician will work for an estimate of 16 se ssions per month and 192 sessions per twelve month period

Summary of Duties

The Ultrasound Technician will provide professional ultrasound and EEG services including performing studies and ensuring interpretations are completed by the appropriate board-certified specialists (radiologist cardiologist or neurologist). Results must be documented and securely sent the next business day with abnormal findings immediately reported to the Clinical Director and all patient encounters recorded using approved medical documentation protocols.

Qualifications

  • Associate Degree in Diagnostic Medical Sonography from a Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP)-accredited program.
  • Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) by the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography.
  • Certification and registration in Sonography by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.
  • A minimum of one (2) year of experience.
  • Must be Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certified either by the American Red Cross (ARC)or the American Heart Association (AHA).
  • Bilingual oral communication skills and experience in a clinical correctional setting are desirable but not required.

Attire

The Ultrasound Technician is expected to dress professionally at all times. The Ultrasound Technician will be required to wear a uniform or scrubs. Any scrubs worn should not be Khaki or Brown. The attire worn shall also be appropriate for the correctional environment in which the contract employee will be performing and should not be tight-fitting or low-cut without an undershirt. Open-toe shoes are not the event the Ultrasound Technicians dress

does not comply with the expectations of the MDC the Ultrasound Technician will not be

permitted entry inside the MDC. The Government will not be financially responsible for the

time it takes to return to the MDC with proper clothing.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality General Ultrasound Vascular Ultrasound and Echocardiogram examinations in accordance with institutional clinical standards ensuring all imaging studies are performed using appropriate techniques to produce diagnostic-quality results. Perform a full range of diagnostic procedures and determine appropriate technical parameters including patient positioning and equipment selection to achieve optimal image acquisition.
  • Ensure all studies are processed interpreted and reported in coordination with board-certified radiologists and/or board-certified cardiologists as clinically appropriate. Complete written diagnostic reports and transmit findings via fax or secure email to the MDC Brooklyn Health Service Department no later than the next business day. Immediately identify and communicate any abnormal or urgent findings to the Clinical Director upon receipt and interpretation of studies.
  • Provide EEG services by performing electroencephalography studies and ensuring interpretation is completed by a board-certified neurologist. Ensure EEG reports are documented finalized and securely transmitted to the Health Service Department within required timeframes with immediate notification of the Clinical Director for any abnormal results.
  • Maintain complete accurate and compliant documentation of all patient encounters in accordance with HIPAA BOP policy and institutional medical record requirements. Enter medical record documentation when approved on a case-by-case basis and otherwise complete all encounters using the official consultation form (SF 513).
  • Adhere to all institutional correctional and clinical safety standards including infection control protocols equipment sanitation procedures and patient safety requirements. Maintain compliance with correctional facility security procedures mandatory training and applicable federal healthcare standards.
  • Receive and prepare patients for diagnostic examinations providing clear communication to reduce anxiety and ensure cooperation. Demonstrate the ability to work effectively with an Adult in Custody (AIC) population from diverse cultural racial religious and ethnic backgrounds while maintaining professional and trauma-informed care standards.
  • Coordinate with Health Services staff to ensure efficient workflow timely scheduling and continuity of care while maintaining ultrasound and EEG equipment in proper working condition and reporting any malfunctions or safety concerns promptly.
