Role Summary
Infrastructure Engineers are responsible for implementing managing and supporting infrastructure environments (physical virtual network and cloud) that enable critical digital services. This role focuses on Linux/UNIX system administration ensuring high availability security and performance of mission-critical systems.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Manage administer and maintain midrange UNIX/Linux infrastructure
- Ensure continuous availability (24/7) of critical systems and services
- Provide business-as-usual (BAU) infrastructure support
- Perform incident response troubleshooting and problem management
- Analyse and resolve complex technical issues across infrastructure layers
- Provide technical guidance and support to internal teams and stakeholders
- Mentor and support junior infrastructure engineers
- Ensure compliance with Essential Eight (E8) and security best practices
- Participate in on-call rotations and after-hours support when required
Technical Skills & Experience
- Strong experience in Linux/UNIX system administration
- Experience managing infrastructure environments (on-premise and cloud)
- Knowledge of security monitoring and compliance frameworks
- Proven ability in troubleshooting and root cause analysis
- Experience in incident and problem management processes
- Familiarity with ITIL or service management frameworks
Desirable Skills
- Experience working in Australian Government or secure environments
- Understanding of Essential Eight (E8) security framework
- Exposure to automation scripting or DevOps tools
- Experience in team collaboration and mentoring.
