Infrastructure Engineer – Linux Specialist

Role Summary

Infrastructure Engineers are responsible for implementing managing and supporting infrastructure environments (physical virtual network and cloud) that enable critical digital services. This role focuses on Linux/UNIX system administration ensuring high availability security and performance of mission-critical systems.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

• Manage administer and maintain midrange UNIX/Linux infrastructure
• Ensure continuous availability (24/7) of critical systems and services
• Provide business-as-usual (BAU) infrastructure support
• Perform incident response troubleshooting and problem management
• Analyse and resolve complex technical issues across infrastructure layers
• Provide technical guidance and support to internal teams and stakeholders
• Mentor and support junior infrastructure engineers
• Ensure compliance with Essential Eight (E8) and security best practices
• Participate in on-call rotations and after-hours support when required

Technical Skills & Experience

• Strong experience in Linux/UNIX system administration
• Experience managing infrastructure environments (on-premise and cloud)
• Knowledge of security monitoring and compliance frameworks
• Proven ability in troubleshooting and root cause analysis
• Experience in incident and problem management processes
• Familiarity with ITIL or service management frameworks

Desirable Skills

• Experience working in Australian Government or secure environments
• Understanding of Essential Eight (E8) security framework
• Exposure to automation scripting or DevOps tools
• Experience in team collaboration and mentoring.
