About the Role
Rijkswaterstaat is seeking an experienced Project Advisor Integrated Safety (PIV) to support one of the Netherlands most impactful infrastructure projects: the A27 HoutenHooipolder expansion.
This large-scale project spans approximately 47 km and includes complex stakeholder environments and major waterway crossings. You will play a critical role in ensuring safety excellence across design execution and maintenance contributing to a strong and proactive safety culture.
Your Impact
As part of the technical management team you will act as a trusted advisor and sparring partner to the technical manager IPM team and contractors. Your mission is to embed integrated safety into every layer of the project ensuring compliance risk control and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the implementation evaluation and optimization of the Integrated Safety Plan
Advise on strategic tactical and operational safety matters
Coordinate and assess safety documentation (e.g. IVP RI&E V&G plans)
Monitor contractor compliance with safety and contractual requirements
Conduct site safety rounds audits and risk assessments
Facilitate safety meetings and stakeholder alignment
Identify risks early and ensure timely mitigation and escalation
Support incident handling reporting and continuous improvement
Contribute to safety reporting trend analysis and audits
Promote a socially safe and collaborative project environment
What You Bring (Must-Have Requirements)
HBO degree in a technical fieldHVK certification
Minimum 5 years experience in multidisciplinary infrastructure projects (100M construction value)
At least 5 years experience as a Safety Advisor in civil engineering
Strong knowledge of IVP RI&E and V&G documentation
Valid VOL-VCA certification (must be verifiable in CDR)
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with D&C (Design & Construct) contracts
Knowledge of Rijkswaterstaat processes and safety frameworks
Experience with risk-based working audits and testing
Background in team safety coaching and culture development
Key Competencies
Strong communication and stakeholder influencing skills
High level of analytical thinking and risk awareness
Proactive structured and solution-oriented mindset
Ability to navigate complex and dynamic environments
Confident in raising safety concerns and driving change
