EU Head of Engineering

Head of Transmission Line Design (EU)

Location: Netherlands (local residency required)

Role Overview

We are seeking a Head of Transmission Line (TL) Design to support our EU business

development and project delivery working closely with the EU CEO.

This role is not only a technical leadership position but also a client-facing solution

driven role helping translate innovative transmission solutions into practical

deliverable engineering designs across the European market.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Leadership & Design Oversight

Lead transmission line (OHL) design activities across EU projects

Provide technical direction on:

Line routing & optimisation

Conductor selection

Insulation coordination (including composite crossarms)

Electrical clearances & EMF considerations

Ensure compliance with European standards and local utility requirements

Support EU CEO in Business Development

Act as the technical counterpart to the EU CEO in client meetings

Present and explain engineering solutions to utilities developers and stakeholders

Support proposal development with technical input and design concepts

Translate client needs into feasible technical solutions

Solution Development (CICA & Advanced Conductors)

Contribute to the localisation and application of innovative solutions such as:

Composite Insulated Cross Arms (CICA)

Advanced conductors

Work with global technical teams to adapt solutions to EU market requirements

Support pilot projects and technical validation with clients

Project Support & Delivery

Support early-stage engineering (feasibility concept design)

Review detailed design outputs where required

Coordinate with internal teams and external consultants (electrical structuralenvironmental)

Build & Scale Engineering Capability

Gradually build and lead a local EU engineering team

Establish design standards workflows and best practices

Support knowledge transfer from HQ to EU

Requirements

Based in the Netherlands with legal working rights

10 years experience in transmission line (OHL) design

Strong background in:

High voltage transmission (typically 110kV400kV)

Line design software (e.g. PLS-CADD PLS-Tower etc.)

Experience working with European TSOs / utilities

Ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly to clients

Key Capabilities

Strong technical foundation commercial awareness

Comfortable in a client-facing role (not purely back-office design)

Ability to work in a fast-growing less structured environment

Problem-solving mindset and willingness to take ownership
