General LabourerAssistant Gardener

We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in Merthyr Tydfil to assist with the appointment of a General Labourer/Assistant Gardener on a 2.5-month contract highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.

Rate of Pay: 13.69 - 17.73 per hour

Summary:

To support the delivery of horticultural and grounds maintenance services across the County Borough ensuring parks green spaces and communal areas are clean safe and well-maintained. The role involves assisting with a range of outdoor tasks and working as part of the Neighbourhood Services team.

Flexibility is required to support other service areas such as Waste Highways Street Cleansing or Cemeteries in line with operational priorities.

Responsibilities:

• Assist with general grounds maintenance including grass cutting planting weeding and watering
• Use basic gardening tools and equipment safely (e.g. strimmers hedge cutters mowers)
• Maintain cleanliness of parks and open spaces through litter picking and bin emptying
• Support seasonal works landscaping tasks and sports pitch marking
• Help maintain tools equipment vehicles and work areas in good condition
• Follow health and safety procedures at all times

Essential Requirements:

• Willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions
• Ability to carry out physical/manual work
• Basic experience or interest in gardening or grounds maintenance
• Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team
• Good attitude reliability and willingness to learn
• Understanding of basic health and safety practices
