Software Development Manager, Amazon MQ

Amazon MQ is a managed AWS service for Apache ActiveMQ and RabbitMQ that streamlines setup operation and management of message brokers on AWS. Every day we make it easier for developers to build applications that use the rich features and power of open-source message brokers. We partner with the maintainers of the RabbitMQ and Apache ActiveMQ open source projects to continually evolve and improve the projects with new features and optimizations.

The Amazon MQ RabbitMQ team in Seattle is seeking a seasoned engineering leader who brings a unique blend of open-source software expertise and cloud computing acumen. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of building and nurturing developer communities while delivering mission-critical services at scale. Were looking for someone who can navigate the intersection of open-source collaboration and enterprise-grade service delivery bringing both worlds together to create exceptional customer experiences. As a leader in our organization youll need to demonstrate pragmatic decision-making and thrive in a dynamic fast-paced environment. Your role will involve empowering and mentoring world-class engineers fostering a culture of technical excellence and driving continuous improvement in both software quality and operational efficiency. - 3 years of engineering team management experience
- 7 years of engineering experience
- 8 years of leading the definition and development of multi tier web services experience
- Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle including coding standards code reviews source control management build processes testing certification and livesite operations
- Experience partnering with product or program management teams

- Experience in communicating with users other technical teams and senior leadership to collect requirements describe software product features technical designs and product strategy
- Experience in recruiting hiring mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills and make them more effective product software engineers

The base salary range for this position is listed below. As a total compensation company Amazons package may include other elements such as sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience qualifications and location.
