Job Overview
We are seeking a Press Tech Group Leader Metal Stamping to lead production efficiency drive Lean Manufacturing initiatives and support continuous improvement in a fast-paced stamping environment. This role is responsible for optimizing press operations reducing downtime improving die changeovers (SMED) and leading a high-performance production team.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and optimize metal stamping press operations for safety quality and productivity
- Troubleshoot tool & die and press issues and implement effective solutions
- Drive Lean Manufacturing / Continuous Improvement initiatives
- Lead SMED (Single Minute Exchange of Die) programs to reduce changeover time and waste
- Develop and manage preventative maintenance programs to reduce downtime
- Mentor coach and develop team members through servant leadership
- Analyze production metrics to improve efficiency and operational performance
- Collaborate with engineering maintenance quality and tool room teams
- Lead cross-functional projects from planning through execution
- Ensure compliance with safety quality and production standards
Required Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Manufacturing Engineering Industrial Engineering or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 5 years in a metal stamping/manufacturing environment
- Strong hands-on press experience in metal stamping required
- Strong knowledge of tool & die principles and practices
- Proven experience in Lean Manufacturing and SMED implementation
- Leadership experience in supervising and developing production teams
- Strong problem-solving analytical and communication skills
- Experience in high-volume manufacturing preferred
Preferred Skills
- SMED and setup reduction experience
- High-volume fast-paced manufacturing background
- Microsoft Office (Excel Word Outlook)
Physical Requirements
- Standing for extended periods bending and stooping
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
