Job Summary

Our client is looking for an experienced Purchaser who will be responsible forhiring subcontractors and vendors for large construction Purchaser you will report to theRegional Purchasing Manager and will be assigned to and work collaboratively with Estimators and Project managers and other members of the project team to complete this function on time and on budget.

This job is 100% onsite in Portland Maine with a salary range of $96000 - $124000. Please only apply if you have relevant experience in procurement and construction live in Maine or have immediate plans to move here and do not require sponsorship.

What Were Looking For:

  • Bachelors degree in construction management engineering or relevant fieldrequired.
  • 6-10 years of experience in construction management procurement or similar rolerequired preferably in the construction field.
  • Experiencewith andgeneral comprehension of construction schedulesdrawingsand specifications.
  • Experience with review of estimates and/or budgets for construction projects and evaluating subcontractor proposals.
  • Strong computer skills andproficiencyin Microsoft Officerequired.
  • Strong communicationskills.
  • Strong initiative and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to multi-task manage timeefficientlyand self-prioritize.
  • Motivated and driven.
  • Ability to work in a team environment with a primary focus on collaboration.
  • Excellent written and verbal presentation skills.
  • Analytical thinking.
  • Ability to communicate in a firm fair and professional manner with subcontractors & peers.

What Youll Do In this Role:

  • Hire subcontractors and vendors for specific construction projects.
  • Define concise trade package scopes of work prior to buying these packages.
  • Collaborate with project team members including the Estimator and Project Manager to ensure tasks are completed on time and within budget.
  • Work with company personnel to develop andmaintainrelationships with subcontractors and vendors.
  • Oversee the pre-qualification bid solicitation and award processes for subcontractors and vendors.
  • Conduct risk analysis related to subcontractors and vendors.
  • Write subcontracts and material purchase agreements.
  • Organize and lead meetings with subcontractors and vendors.
  • Facilitate and lead proposal (scope of work) review meetings.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
