SUMMARY:

We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Art teacher to join the Hudson Public Schools. Candidates should be able to contribute to a positive environment for student learning and involvement embracing cultural diversity and multiple perspectives. Hold a strong belief that all students are capable of achieving and is able to provide support and feedback for a wide range of learners. Has a collegial spirit that supports the team model through collaboration and professional growth consistent with the educational goals and philosophies of our school community. Committed to continuous learning improving reflecting and working with students staff and families to ensure that all students achieve at high levels. Other duties as assigned.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSILBILITES:

  • Planning and implementing standards-based lesson planning with clear objectives
  • Providing appropriate and effective learning experiences for students from a wide range of socioeconomic levels and cultural backgrounds
  • Using a variety of instructional strategies appropriate for teaching students from diverse backgrounds with different learning styles and needs
  • Designing and demonstrating differentiated instruction to meet the needs of all students
  • Using a variety of formal and informal assessments to accurately measure student progress toward mastery of grade-level standards and to modify further instruction
  • Assessing levels of student achievement effectively analyze data and prescribe actions for improvement
  • Providing a motivating and stimulating safe and supportive learning environment
  • Adapting lessons for individual small group and remedial instruction to meet the needs of identified students
  • Communicating orally and in writing with students parents and others
  • Working collaboratively and cooperatively with teachers in planning instruction to meet the needs of a diverse population of learners
  • Modeling effective teaching strategies and techniques
  • Participating in school-wide professional development activities
  • Performing duties as requested by principals
  • Communicating high standards and expectations for all students

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

  • Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary license in the specific subject area(s): Visual Arts Pre K - 8
  • Bachelors Degree from an accredited college or university; Masters Degree preferred.
  • SEI Endorsement preferred
  • Successful completion of Criminal Records Check (CORI) and fingerprints

While performing duties of this job the employee may often remain in a stationary position for considerable periods of time. The employee will have also have ample periods of standing and may be required to traverse throughout the building. The employee must frequently use hands and frequently operates a computer and other office productivity machinery (i.e. calculator copy machine and computer printer). Physical abilities may also include lifting/carrying/pushing/pulling stooping/crouching reaching/handling talking/hearing conversations and near/far visual acuity/depth perception/color vision/field. Ability must be able to lift and/or push and pull 15 to 20lbs for short periods and walk up and down stairs several times a day. The employee must be able to communicate effectively with students staff members and the public in person and on the telephone.
