Position Summary

The Master Mechanic / is responsible for overseeing maintenance activities and ensuring the reliability safety and optimal performance of all production equipment. This position requires strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills hands-on experience with powder coating systems extrusion lines and grinding operations as well as leadership ability to supervise maintenance personnel and coordinate cross-functional repairs and improvements.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead train and supervise a team of maintenance technicians to support daily production operations.

• Perform advanced troubleshooting repair and preventive maintenance on equipment including:

  • Powder coating booths ovens and conveyor systems

  • Extrusion machines and associated feed systems

  • Grinders mixers and dust collection systems

• Diagnose mechanical pneumatic hydraulic and electrical issues and implement effective solutions.

• Develop and execute preventive and predictive maintenance programs to minimize downtime.

• Coordinate with production safety and quality departments to ensure equipment reliability and compliance.

• Plan and schedule maintenance work orders spare parts usage and machine overhauls.

• Maintain maintenance logs service records and equipment performance documentation.

• Recommend and implement process improvements for efficiency safety and quality.

• Ensure all work is performed in accordance with OSHA NFPA and plant safety standards.

• Participate in capital project planning installation and equipment commissioning.

Qualifications

• Experience: Minimum 710 years of industrial maintenance experience including at least 3 years in a supervisory or lead mechanic role.

• Technical Knowledge:

  • Strong background in mechanical systems industrial electrical and PLC basics.

  • Demonstrated expertise in powder coating equipment extrusion lines and grinding systems.

  • Welding fabrication and machining experience preferred.

• Education: Technical degree certification or equivalent hands-on experience in industrial maintenance or mechanical engineering.

• Skills:

  • Strong leadership and team coordination skills.

  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving ability.

  • Proficient with CMMS systems maintenance scheduling and parts inventory management.

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints schematics and technical manuals.

  • Strong communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally.

Physical & Work Environment Requirements

• Work performed in a manufacturing plant environment with exposure to powder coatings heat and noise.

• Must be able to stand stoop and lift up to 50 lbs.

• Availability for overtime weekends and on-call support as needed.
