Position Summary
The Master Mechanic / is responsible for overseeing maintenance activities and ensuring the reliability safety and optimal performance of all production equipment. This position requires strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills hands-on experience with powder coating systems extrusion lines and grinding operations as well as leadership ability to supervise maintenance personnel and coordinate cross-functional repairs and improvements.
Key Responsibilities
Lead train and supervise a team of maintenance technicians to support daily production operations.
Perform advanced troubleshooting repair and preventive maintenance on equipment including:
Powder coating booths ovens and conveyor systems
Extrusion machines and associated feed systems
Grinders mixers and dust collection systems
Diagnose mechanical pneumatic hydraulic and electrical issues and implement effective solutions.
Develop and execute preventive and predictive maintenance programs to minimize downtime.
Coordinate with production safety and quality departments to ensure equipment reliability and compliance.
Plan and schedule maintenance work orders spare parts usage and machine overhauls.
Maintain maintenance logs service records and equipment performance documentation.
Recommend and implement process improvements for efficiency safety and quality.
Ensure all work is performed in accordance with OSHA NFPA and plant safety standards.
Participate in capital project planning installation and equipment commissioning.
Qualifications
Experience: Minimum 710 years of industrial maintenance experience including at least 3 years in a supervisory or lead mechanic role.
Technical Knowledge:
Strong background in mechanical systems industrial electrical and PLC basics.
Demonstrated expertise in powder coating equipment extrusion lines and grinding systems.
Welding fabrication and machining experience preferred.
Education: Technical degree certification or equivalent hands-on experience in industrial maintenance or mechanical engineering.
Skills:
Strong leadership and team coordination skills.
Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving ability.
Proficient with CMMS systems maintenance scheduling and parts inventory management.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints schematics and technical manuals.
Strong communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally.
Physical & Work Environment Requirements
Work performed in a manufacturing plant environment with exposure to powder coatings heat and noise.
Must be able to stand stoop and lift up to 50 lbs.
Availability for overtime weekends and on-call support as needed.
