Position Type: Summer Program Position (Temporary/Seasonal) Program Dates: July 20 August 5 Schedule: MondayThursday 9:00 a.m.2:00 p.m.

Location: District-Wide (site(s) assigned based on enrollment/program needs)

Compensation: $40.00 per hour Reports To: Fine & Performing Arts Director and/or Summer Program Site Coordinator

Position Summary The Percussion/Rhythm Section Teacher provides instruction and ensemble support for the middle school Rock Band Camp group in a pop/rock performance setting. This role focuses on developing student percussion and rhythm section skills through part assignment technique instruction sectional rehearsals and co-teaching full ensemble rehearsals. The teacher is also responsible for equipment setup and maintaining a safe inclusive learning environment. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Assign drum set and percussion parts for students in the middle school group. Teach parts and proper techniques for drum set and percussion players in a pop/rock ensemble (timekeeping groove dynamics fills transitions and stylistic accuracy). Teach solo techniques for students assigned solo passages. Lead rhythm section group rehearsals to strengthen timing balance ensemble cohesion and -teach full-group rehearsals with other band directors emphasizing balance teamwork groove and stage performance to support optimum ensemble performance. Set up organize and monitor safe use of equipment (drum set/percussion equipment stands cables storage and related materials). Create and maintain a safe supportive and well-supervised learning environment for all students. Professional Expectations Collaborate consistently and communicate effectively with fellow directors and program leadership. Maintain clear rehearsal routines and positive rehearsal culture appropriate for middle school students. Demonstrate punctuality preparedness reliability and professionalism throughout the program. Follow district and program protocols including approved communication procedures and student safety expectations.

Qualifications Required: Demonstrated experience teaching percussion/drum set and/or coaching ensembles. Knowledge of pop/rock performance styles and rehearsal practices. Ability to work effectively with middle school students across a range of skill levels.

Preferred: Experience leading rhythm section rehearsals and supporting student performance readiness. School-based or youth music program teaching/coaching experience.
