The Position
Your department and team
The Immune and Cell Biology Department in Penzberg is part of the global Large Molecule Research function which is a key partner for all disease areas within Roche Pharma. We identify the candidates with the potential to become drugs early by predicting their mode of action and efficacy using physiologically relevant cellular model systems.
Your host team is located in Penzberg and consists of over 30 natural scientists and lab technicians and a varying number of interns. Our focus is on increasing predictivity and automation to support our pre-clinical research project teams. During your internship you will be at the forefront of laboratory automation bridging the gap between conventional biological assays and cutting-edge pipetting robotics. We are currently looking for 2 candidates.
Your tasks and responsibilities
Your primary focus will be on transitioning establishing and validating complex cellular workflows on automated platforms.
You will perform and optimize Flow Cytometry (FACS) staining workflows using both conventional manual methods and automated pipetting systems.
You will establish and validate new automated FACS workflows to ensure high data quality and reproducibility.
You will also develop and implement automated workflows for T cell proliferation assays.
You will develop human 3D immune cell cultures to evaluate the safety and efficacy profiles of therapeutic large molecules.
Your profile
You are currently enrolled at university (studying cell biology immunology or similar) or in a Gap year between degrees (BA and Master); German language skills are not required but proficiency in English.
You have hands-on experience in cell culture techniques.
You have a solid understanding of multicolor flow cytometry and profound experience in this field.
You bring in a high level of technical understanding and a strong affinity for laboratory equipment and automation.
Prior programming experience and/or practical experience with complex 3D cell culture techniques will be considered a distinct advantage.
