Job Summary
Reporting to the Director of Events and Conferences the Assistant Director is responsible for the planning and delivery of Questrom events and programs primarily working with Questrom graduate student clubs and other clients both internal and external. The Assistant Director will work in conjunction with the rest of the Questrom Events and Conferences team as well as other Questrom departments such as Finance and Administration Marketing and Communication Questrom Operations Facilities and Catering. The Assistant Director provides full event management for client departments including initial inquiry planning up until the event itself and any wrap up and post evaluation. This position will also hire train and manage all student employees who are crucial for the success of Questroms events. The Assistant Director will manage the Deans Hosts program including the hiring of student hosts and track their assignments. The role also manages the operations of the department. The Assistant Director also serves as a member of the Questrom Convocation Committee assisting with the planning and execution of the schools Convocation activities and receptions. Events will take place in the Questrom building on the Boston University campus and off campus. It is expected the Assistant Director will work after typical business hours and many weekends.
Required Skills
- Bachelors degree in a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years in the events industry.
- Exceptional organizational oral & written communication and presentation skills are required.
- Strong ability to prioritize and adapt to changing needs as well as collaborate amicably with a wide range of students.
- High level of attention to detail and the project management components of the position.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in higher education.
- Knowledge of event platforms including Social Tables and CVENT.
- Knowledge of the events industry including trends design and safety.
- Optional portfolio of past event work.
