Seasonal Gardens & Grounds Assistant

The Seasonal Gardens & Grounds Assistant works with Henry Ford Estates Gardens & Grounds team to maintain the 17-acre national historic landmark Fair Lane. Ideal summer job for a high school senior college student or a career-change seeker who enjoys the outdoors! Flexible weekday hours (up to 40 per week). This position is temporary and will end on or before August 28 2026.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Performs gardens and grounds maintenance duties such as flower bed weeding mulching lawn mowing edging leaf blower use planting herbaceous and woody plants fertilizing plants watering etc.

COMPENSATION:

This is a part- or full-time hourly non-exempt temporary position with benefits available to temporary/seasonal employees. The hourly rate is $18.00 per hour; this position is eligible for overtime pay but overtime opportunities will be limited.

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS & ABILITIES:

• Must be at least 17 years old.
• Demonstrated interest and ability to work outdoors.
• Previous experience in landscaping or gardening a plus.
• Demonstrated ability to work well independently and as part of a team.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Must be able to stand and move around public areas of the Estate for extended periods of time.
• Must be comfortable working outside in unfavorable conditions.
• Must be able to exert force of up to 25 pounds frequently. The position involves frequent working on knees reaching crouching and lifting; and using a lawn mower blower and weed whip with training provided.

WORKING LOCATION & SCHEDULE:

• This role will be in-person and is not eligible for remote work.
• Expected schedule M-F with mutually agreeable start times.
