THE PRACTICE

VENTURA COUNTY MEDICAL CENTER Ventura CA

Ventura County Medical Center (VCMC) is a 229 bed fully-integrated comprehensive system of hospital clinic and specialty services. VCMC is noted for its renowned Family Medicine Residency Program and is distinguished as the only Ventura County academic teaching hospital with a residency affiliated with UCLA School of Medicine. VCMC is the designated Level II Trauma Center for the west county and is known for its extraordinary trauma team. Due to the patient population Spanish-speaking is preferred.

Inpatient Services (Hillmont Psychiatric Center)

• 36 bed unit increasing to 43 beds
• 7 on 7 off schedule with 10-hour shifts
• Physician will see approximately 15 patients per shift
• EMR - Cerner

Crisis Stabilization Unit & Consultation (Hillmont Psychiatric Center)

• 12-hour shifts
• Flexible Scheduling doctors may work up to 5 shifts in a row
• Patients are seen in the CSU Ventura County ED including consults in the main hospital
• EMR - Cerner

THE AREA

• Ventura County comprises the Oxnard-Thousand Oaks-Ventura CA Metropolitan Statistical Area which is also included in the Los Angeles-Long Beach CA Combined Statistical Area. It is also considered the southernmost county along the California Central Coast. There are 555953 acres (224986 ha) outside of national forest land in Ventura County. North of Highway 126 the county is mountainous and mostly uninhabited and contains some of the most unspoiled rugged and inaccessible wilderness remaining in southern California. Small coastal mountains rim Ventura County on its landward side. They range in elevation from 50 feet (15 m) along the coast south of the coastal plain to about 3100 feet (940 m) in the Santa Monica Mountains. The Santa Ynez Mountains the Topatopa Mountains and the Piru Mountains make up the northern boundary of the coastal plain the Santa Susana Mountains are alongside the eastern boundary of the county and the Simi Hills and the Santa Monica Mountains are along the southern border with Los Angeles County.
