TUMO is a creative technologies center founded in Armenia now present in over 10 countries. Aimed at young people aged 12 to 18 TUMO complements formal education by offering opportunities to develop skills in areas such as Music Robotics Animation Game Development Programming Photography Cinema and Graphic Design. Each student follows a personalized learning path based on their progress and interests guided by learning coaches and experts.
TUMO is completely free of charge for its students made possible by our generous donors and partners. Our mission is to promote upward social mobility and accelerate social growth in Portugal.
The first TUMO center in Portugal opened in Coimbra in September 2023 and a second opened in Lisbon in September 2024 each serving 1500 students. Our most recent TUMO center opened in Porto in september 2025 already starting with 1.000 students.
ABOUT THE ROLE:
The Marketing & Community Trainee role focuses on strengthening TUMOs connection with the local community by building relationships with schools families students and media. This role supports the organisation of events promotes the showcase of students work and helps increase TUMOs visibility through outreach and communication efforts.
It also involves engaging parents assisting with content creation (including audiovisual) and collaborating with the wider communications team on campaigns and storytelling. Additionally the trainee works with teams across different cities to support national initiatives like student recruitment campaigns and events. This is a learning-oriented position ideal for someone interested in community engagement marketing and gaining hands-on experience in an educational and creative environment.
The main responsibilities include:
Marketing & Brand Promotion
- Event support: Support the planning and execution of local events and promotional activities such as open days exhibitions and school visits. Ensure events are well-organised engaging and aligned with TUMOs mission while providing hands-on support during educational and public events and working with programme teams to ensure smooth delivery and strong audience engagement;
- Audiovisual content capture: Capture photos and videos of ongoing activities events and student projects to support storytelling social media presence and promotional materials - this is mostly about capturing content;
- Local visibility & media: Support relationships with local media and community stakeholders to increase the centers visibility and public presence;
- Adapt graphic and audiovisual content:Make adjustments and adaptations for the local context or needs;
- Data-informed action: Monitor and analyse engagement data from digital campaigns and events quickly identifying trends insights and opportunities to adjust strategies and maximise impact.
Community & School Engagement:
- School outreach: Support relationships with schools and teachers supporting outreach activities presentations and initiatives that promote TUMOs educational model and programmes;
- Student ambassador programme: Support the coordination and operationalise the student ambassador programme supporting students in representing TUMO in schools events and community initiatives;
- Family communication: Assist in engaging with parents and guardians ensuring information is shared clearly and in a timely manner;
- Communication management: Manage the centers communication channels (phone email whatsapp) ensuring timely accurate and supportive responses to enquiries from students families and partners;
- Center involvement: Participate in the day-to-day life of the TUMO center working collaboratively with the team and providing operational support when needed.
WHAT YOU BRING:
- Educational Background: Currently studying or recently graduated in Marketing Communication Media or a related field; interest in digital and creative communication is a plus.
- Interest in Marketing & Community Engagement: Motivation to learn about marketing events and community outreach with curiosity about how to engage different audiences.
- Content Creation: Basic ability or interest in creating content (text photo or video) for social media and communication channels.
- Organisation & Teamwork: Good organisational skills attention to detail and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills in Portuguese and English.
- Personal Traits: Proactive responsible eager to learn and adaptable with a positive attitude.

- In-Loco Full-Time Position: Work on-site at the dynamic TUMO center in Lisboa;
- Contract type: internship
- Compensation: Internship allowance (in accordance with the amounts defined by IEFP for internships at this level) meal allowance.
- Schedule: Working hours will be decided upon entry and can be adjusted according to your needs and the needs of the centers activities;
- Learning & Development: Benefit from close support from experienced team members with opportunities to progressively take on more responsibility as you grow in the role.
