Physician Assistant or Pediatric Nurse Practitioner: Pediatric Emergency Room Pediatric Inpatient Unit and Newborn Nursery

Shift:

Full Time (40 hours); 6 a.m. 12 a.m.

Including weekends and rotating holidays. No overnights.

Position Summary:

The Pediatric Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant at Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center provides health care services to pediatric patients up to the age of 21 years old in a combined pediatric emergency room and inpatient unit as well as providing coverage in the Newborn Nursery all while under the direction and responsibility of a physician.

The APP will need to be adaptable and workcollaboratively with the physician to provide comprehensivecare to a pediatric patient population that may have complexpsycho-social needs non-English speaking and/or low-incomepatients/families requiring extra support andeducation. The Pediatric Center has 5 ED rooms 1trauma room and 9 inpatient rooms.

Providers conduct physical exams diagnose and treat illnesses order and interpret tests counsel on preventative care assist in trauma and critical care and write prescriptions as needed.

Education/Work Experience:

  • Completion of Masters or Doctorate PNP or PA program certification and state licensure required.
  • Work requires knowledge of theories principles and concepts typically acquired through completion of a Masters or Doctorate in Nursing Pediatric Nurse Practitioner Family Practice Nurse Practitioner or Acute Care Nurse Practitioner or Bachelors (Masters degree preferred) degree in a Physician Assistant Program

Licensure/Certifications

  • Maryland CRNP
  • Pediatric Acute Care or PA license
  • Maryland CDS permit
  • DEA license
  • PALS AHA CPR card

Experience: Three (3) years experience required for level II position. New grads considered but will be hired as a level I.

Salary Range: Minimum 55.81/hour - Maximum 86.51/hour. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility. In cases where the range is displayed as a $0 amount salary discussions will occur during candidate screening calls before any subsequent compensation discussion is held between the candidate and any hiring authority.
