- Ensuring safety of self teams and lab/plant by adhering to safety protocols and following environment health safety and Sustainability (EHSS) requirements at all times in the workplace.
- Ensure all assigned mandatory training related to data integrity health and safety measures are completed on time by all members of the team including self
- Compliance to Syngene s quality standards at all times
Core Purpose of the Role:The EHS Business Partner will work closely with Discovery Biology teams Safety Assessment scientists Vivarium & Veterinary teams and Laboratory Managers to embed EHSS into research operations through proactive risk management and collaboration.
Role Accountabilities:
- Implementation and management of biosafety programmes across the Discovery Biology facility.
- Conduct hazard identification and risk assessments across laboratories and vivarium facility.
- Ensure compliance with IBSC regulations and perform biosafety assessments for new biological projects recommending appropriate safe handling controls.
- Integrate EHS requirements into experimental design and operational workflows.
- Support EHS inputs for business cases expansion projects and new initiatives.
- Drive EHS programs regulatory compliance and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Ensure safe handling storage transport and disposal of biological materials and other biological samples.
- Develop deliver and periodically review training programs conduct induction programs for new employees
- Conduct audits and inspections and monitor laboratory practices engineering controls and PPE usage.
- Lead incident investigations and implement corrective and preventive actions.
- Oversee decontamination processes biomedical waste management and animal biosafety practices

Experience:
- Hands-on research experience in relevant biological research domains including molecular biology microbiology cell biology recombinant DNA research immunology virology or related life sciences.
- Preferred Certifications (can be acquired post-selection):
- PG Diploma in Industrial Safety / Biosafety equivalent course
- NEBOSH (IGC/Diploma)
- Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or equivalent
- A strong interest in EHS within research environments is essential.
