The Youth Test Shopper role is a supervised role where the test shopper will be driven to tobacco and cigarette retailers across the region to audit vendors under the Smoke Free Ontario Act. It is illegal for tobacco retailers to sell cigarettes or e-cigarettes to youth under 19 years of age. If a sale happens the Youth Test Shopper will document the evidence and appear in court as needed. Training is provided.
Hours of Work:
Evenings and weekends during the school year and weekdays during the summer.
Working hours will vary depending on agency need and youth availability.
Position Effective:
June 1 2026
Requirements:
Must be between 15 to 17 years old;
Good verbal and written communication skills;
Self-confident self-assured and outgoing personality;
Reliable available to work scheduled times;
Strong observation skill for gathering evidence during test shopping;
Attention to detail;
Previous work or volunteer experience preferred.
