Job Summary:**

As a Lead Automation Engineer at Jabil Inc. you will be responsible for designing developing implementing and maintaining advanced automation solutions across our manufacturing facilities. This role involves leading projects mentoring junior engineers and driving continuous improvement in our automation strategies to enhance efficiency quality and cost-effectiveness.

Job Responsibilities:**

* Lead the design development and deployment of complex automation systems including robotics PLCs HMIs SCADA systems and industrial networks.
* Manage automation projects from concept to completion including scope definition resource allocation budget management and timeline adherence.
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams including manufacturing process engineering IT and quality assurance to identify automation opportunities and integrate solutions.
* Conduct feasibility studies risk assessments and cost-benefit analyses for proposed automation initiatives.
* Develop and maintain detailed engineering documentation including schematics programming logic test plans and operational procedures.
* Provide technical expertise and mentorship to junior automation engineers fostering their growth and development.
* Troubleshoot and resolve complex automation system issues ensuring minimal downtime and optimal performance.
* Stay abreast of emerging automation technologies and industry best practices recommending and implementing innovative solutions.
* Ensure all automation solutions comply with relevant safety standards quality requirements and regulatory guidelines.
* Participate in continuous improvement initiatives identifying areas for process optimization and efficiency gains through automation.

Job Qualifications:**

* Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering Mechanical Engineering Computer Engineering or a related field. Masters degree preferred.
* 8 years of experience in industrial automation with a strong focus on PLC programming (e.g. Siemens Rockwell Mitsubishi) HMI development and robotic integration (e.g. FANUC KUKA ABB).
* Proven experience leading automation projects from conception to successful implementation.
* Expertise in industrial communication protocols (e.g. Ethernet/IP Profibus Modbus).
* Strong understanding of control systems theory mechatronics and vision systems.
* Proficiency in CAD software (e.g. AutoCAD SolidWorks) for electrical and mechanical design.
* Excellent problem-solving analytical and troubleshooting skills.
* Strong leadership communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively collaborate with diverse teams.
* Ability to travel as needed to support various Jabil manufacturing sites.
* Knowledge of industry standards and regulations (e.g. ISO UL CE) related to automation and industrial safety.
