The Social Media & Communications Executive is responsible for managing and enhancing the schools digital presence through strategic social media management content creation and communications initiatives. The role focuses on delivering engaging and brand-aligned content supporting event coverage fostering community engagement and translating internal updates into effective external communications. The incumbent will also contribute to strengthening the schools brand identity supporting stakeholders across departments and driving continuous improvement through performance insights and digital communication strategies.
This is a 1-year contract position (renewable) remunerated at an hourly rate of$20 per hour.
Social Media and Branding
- Manage GESSs social media accounts (Facebook Instagram LinkedIn etc.).
- Plan and execute weekly/monthly content calendars to ensure platforms are regularly populated with engaging high-quality content.
- Ensure all social media activities reflect the GESS visual and verbal brand identity consistently
Content Creation
- Create copy consistent with the GESS brand personality incorporating a defined hashtag strategy.
- Perform photo/video taking and editing for social media and documentation; provide on-site support/coverage for major events (e.g. EUFF).
- Facilitate the setup of paid social media advertising and marketing campaigns.
Community Engagement & Mentorship
- Oversee social media queries and emails ensuring timely responses or redirection to relevant parties.
- Mentor and provide approval for TikTok content created by the GESS Student Media Makers (GSMM).
- Provide social media guidance to staff (e.g. academic Social Media Ambassadors) as needed.
Communication & Editorial
- Write and publish news articles for the school newsletter and internal communication platforms or projects.
- Collaborate with academic and admin departments to transform internal updates into cohesive external-facing narratives.
Others
- Support the creation of social media metrics reporting and strategy development.
- Facilitate internal requests from academic and admin personnel.
- Other ad-hoc duties related to communications.
