Position Summary
The Folder Gluer Operator is responsible for operating and maintaining folder/gluer machines to produce high-quality printed packaging materials in accordance with customer specifications. This experienced and skilled position is integral to the success of the business requiring expertise in equipment operation troubleshooting and quality assurance within the food packaging industry.
Must-Haves
High School diploma or GED
Minimum of 3 years of Folder/Gluer equipment operation within the food packaging industry
Capable of running straight line auto-bottom 4 and 6 corner cartons
Interpersonal and communication skills
Basic computer skills and mathematical skills necessary to compute percentages weights and measures
Primary Functions
Operate and adjust gluer machine troubleshoot and monitor operation
Prepare gluer by performing a variety of tasks to produce consistent high quality product through precise control of feeding take over and inverting of batches of blanks
Set automatic loading and maintain constant blank heights ensuring steady and precise feeding at all speeds
Perform make ready tasks utilizing quick and easy settings for high productivity and precision operations
Resolve defects and make adjustments to produce high quality product
Oversee general technicians working on equipment
Make adjustments and clear jams while processing product maintaining speed and quality
Ensure quality of jobs completed by reviewing for quality and accuracy
Ensure finished product exceeds customer expectations and all checklists are completed
Support and communicate all ISO standards and quality objectives to the team
Ensure complete adherence and compliance to OHSE and Clean policies
Assist team members in maintaining clean and safe environment
Maintain and follow all company policies and procedures for safety PPE and hazardous materials/waste handling
Interact with the team and co-workers in a way that promotes respect encourages cooperation and contributes to excellent performance
Communicate accurate information to all team members in a professional and courteous manner
Accept direction and feedback from leadership and follow through appropriately
Create and maintain a high-performance environment characterized by positive leadership and strong team orientation
Communicate regularly with team toward goals and required results
Motivate crew to improve quantity and quality of work performed and provide training as required
Conduct team meetings
Perform any and all work or additional tasks as required or requested by Department Leads Shift Leads or Management
Required Skills
Folder/Gluer equipment operation including set up troubleshooting and adjusting equipment
Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination
Ability to lift in excess of 30 lbs frequently
Ability to stand stoop bend and reach for prolonged periods
Close vision distance vision color vision peripheral vision and depth perception with ability to adjust focus
Hearing and speaking capabilities
Ability to rotate shifts and work in excess of 8 hours per day and/or 40 hours per week when necessary
