Operating Engineer

MalaceHR is seeking a Data Center Operating Engineer to support critical facility operations. This role is responsible for maintaining and optimizing all electrical and mechanical systems within a data center environment ensuring maximum uptime and reliability.

This is a hands-on position ideal for someone with strong HVAC or electrical experience who is comfortable working in a fast-paced mission-critical environment.

What Youll Do

• Maintain monitor and perform preventive maintenance on all building systems to ensure 100% uptime
• Support critical infrastructure including:
  • Electrical systems (UPS generators switchgear ATS STS PDUs transformers)
  • Mechanical systems (HVAC chillers CRAC/CRAH units plumbing controls)
• Monitor system performance record readings and make necessary adjustments
• Troubleshoot system issues identify root causes and implement corrective actions
• Respond to incidents and support emergency procedures when needed
• Manage work orders including CMMS systems vendor coordination and customer-facing tickets
• Ensure compliance with safety procedures including proper handling of hazardous materials
• Maintain a clean safe and organized work environment
• Learn site-specific systems and proactively identify risks to critical operations
• Support additional facility-related duties as needed

Required Qualifications

• 2 years of experience in a data center or critical facility environment
• Strong experience in either HVAC or Electrical systems (one is required)
• Hands-on experience with systems such as UPS generators and switchgear
• Ability to troubleshoot and resolve mechanical/electrical issues independently
• Strong communication skills (written and verbal)
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office Google Suite and CMMS platforms
• Ability to work overnight shifts holidays and respond to emergencies

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with CMMS platforms (Corrigo is a plus)
• Procedure writing experience
• Universal EPA 608 Certification
• NFPA 70E training
