LOCATION: Cardiff Central Square
PROPOSED SALARY RANGE: 27600 - 33900 depending on relevant skills knowledge and experience. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights.
Welsh language skills are not necessary for this role.
PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
This is an exciting opportunity to join BBC Radio Wales as a Journalist working as part of the team producing our daily breakfast and drive news committed to delivering the best content for our Welsh audience and were looking for a creative journalist with a passion for storytelling.
In the role you could be identifying stories chasing guests writing briefs gathering voxes or editing audio. Youll work with our presenters journalists and colleagues across the BBC Wales newsroom to deliver engaging radio that speaks to our listeners across Wales.

YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND IMPACT:
- This is ahands-onrole that will see you working on avariety of shifts supporting our breakfast anddrive programmes as well as our political programme Sunday Supplement.
- Reporting to the assistant editors you will work alongside a senior journalist to deliver creative and engaging radio that makes an impact beyond the linear broadcast.
- As you develop in the role there may be opportunities to studio produce to read news bulletins and to support our weekly news podcastWalescast.
- Some weekend working will berequired.
YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:
- Experience of working on radio or news programmes.
- Experience of delivering original creative journalism.
- Knowledge of Welsh politics and current affairs and an awareness of the issues that affect the Welsh audience.
- Understanding of the BBCs editorial guidelines and importance of impartiality.
DESIRABLE:
- Experience of operating broadcast technologies.
- Experience of audio editing.
