CONTEXT AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The NATO Science & Technology Organization (STO) is a NATO subsidiary body to the North Atlantic Council (NAC) and is governed by the NATO Science and Technology Board (STB). The STB reports to the NAC through the Military Committee (MC) and the Conference of National Armaments Directors (CNAD).
The mission of the STO is to help position the Nations and NATO Bodies S&T investments as a strategic enabler of the knowledge and technical advantage supporting the defence and security posture of Allies and partner Nations. As described in the STO Charter the STO Collaboration Support Office (CSO) is one of the three Executive Bodies of the STO.
Within the framework of the STO Collaborative business model the CSO provides executive and administrative support to the S&T activities conducted through the eight STO Scientific and Technical Committees (STCs). The CSO facilitates the worlds largest and most vibrant scientific network for defence and security. More than 5 000 scientists and engineers from NATO and Partner Nations are engaged in approximately 460 carefully selected S&T Activities in the Collaborative Programme of Work (CPoW). Together they work to solve real-world problems that Nations face today and to better prepare their Armed Forces to meet future its areas of expertise the CSO provides assistance and support to the NATO Science and Technology Board (STB) its Chair the Chief Scientist and his/her office.


The Personnel Administration and Logistics (PAL) Branch is one of the three branches providing the secured collaborative environment and enabling to conduct the S&T Collaborative Program of Work.
The PAL Branch includes the sections of Personnel and Administration Facilities Management (FM) and Security. Facilities Management comprises general services logistics postal services reprographic services as well as infrastructure and building maintenance; Security covers the physical protection of personnel of the premises and of the equipment required for the operations of the CSO.

The intern is part of the PAL Branch.
Under the direction of the Branch Head (PAL) and Principal Assistant (PAL) he/she is responsible for supporting the PAL Branch Human Resources affairs as necessary.


He/She will:

the CSO welcome Booklet newcomers induction documents and other HR documents.
in the creation of processes handbooks for the PAL Branch.
improvements on follow-up tools for recruitment contract management payroll performance training and other employee life-cycle matters.
to data processing in view of annual personal information check as well as statistical analysis/metrics.
suggestions on Change Management Corporate Social Responsibility Cohesion Well-being Health and Safety matters.
and paper archiving: scanning recording and cleaning of the local archiving room and local drive/SharePoint (general documents and personal files).

Special Requirements and Additional Duties
Performing other related functions as directed by the Branch Head (PAL) and the Principal Assistants (PAL).



ESSENTIAL
Professional /Experience
Experience in Human Resources.
Education/Training
Having successfully completed at least two years of University education in an applicable area or demonstrated equivalent training.
Be able to use common office software suites such as Microsoft Office tools (Outlook Word and Excel).
Familiar with SharePoint.
Language
Proficient knowledge of one of the two official NATO languages (SLP:4343) and a fair knowledge of the other (SLP: 2222). The work is mainly conducted in English.


DESIRABLE
The following would be considered an advantage:
Professional /Experience
Prior experience in one International Organization.
Prior experience in a multinational environment.
Education/Training
Advanced training in the use of office software suites.
Human Resources qualifications.
Very good knowledge of both NATO official languages with a particular focus on English

CLEARANCE LEVEL
The applicant must be eligible for a NATO Secret security clearance.


ENVIRONMENT
Normal office work environment.


TERMS AND CONDITIONS
The position is for an internship of six months. Upon conditions a follow-up contract of six months shall be offered to the incumbent (the maximum of the assignment being one year).
The basic monthly salary will be Euro 1503.05 and is subject to taxation.
The post holder will benefit from 30 days annual leave (prorated as necessary).
The selected candidate will benefit from a work accident insurance.
Any other insurance will be contracted individually and paid by the post holder.
The CSO Director will appoint the selected candidate through the signature of his/her contract.
The appointment is subject to the receipt by the CSO of a security clearance (provided by the national authorities of the incumbent).
