Reporter/Editor assigned to Weather (English Services)

CBC Saskatchewan is looking for a reporter to pitch tell and present weather stories. While you will present weather on some of our traditional platforms a key outcome of this role will be to grow new audiences in mobile and streaming spaces.

Reporting to the assignment desk you will pitch and produce stories that connect Saskatchewan people with their environment. You are curious about the effects of weather and climate on our social economic cultural and daily lives.

When weather news breaks it is your time to shine. You will be an expert at keeping our audiences abreast of active rapidly-changing weather. You will do that on live pages FAST and live-to air programs.

You will be a touchstone to audiences on our traditional platforms bringing them what they need to know to navigate the rest of their day and into tomorrow.

This is a permanent full-time onsite position based in Regina.

These are the skills we need you to have:

University degree or equivalent with a minimum of three years of practical and relevant experience.

Strong experience forecasting weather.

Strong experience in reporting weather and climate change as news.

Strong on air performance.

Experience in live radio and/or television broadcasts.

Experience in digital and video storytelling.

Experience and excellent understanding of any broadcast weather graphic system with a proven ability to maximize the use of those systems in ways that best serve audiences is essential.

Ability to file weather and news stories and live debriefs for all CBC media platforms.

Ability to work early mornings evenings and occasional weekends when required.

Ability to attend community outreach events after hours.

Good interpersonal skills and team player.
