Job Summary
Job Title: Strategic Sourcing Lead Law Firm
Location: Chicago IL Loop location
Salary Range: $107000 - $150000
**Office Attendance:** Hybrid (minimum 3 days/week onsite)
### Role Summary
We are seeking a **Strategic Sourcing Lead** to join our Procurement Operations team at a premier national law firm. This role sits directly under the Director of Procurement Operations and is central to our firm-wide initiative to transform procurement from reactive cost-cutting to proactive value-driven vendor strategy.
You will own strategic sourcing initiatives for our Library Services and Research categories manage complex vendor relationships execute competitive bidding processes (RFPs) negotiate contracts and drive cost savings and risk mitigation across the organization. You will partner with legal teams business owners and senior leadership to deliver innovative procurement solutions.
### Key Responsibilities
- Lead strategic sourcing initiatives in Library Services and Research (LexisNexis research databases learning platforms knowledge management tools)
- Support adjacent categories in IT and Professional Services
- Develop and execute RFPs vendor analysis and financial evaluation frameworks
- Analyze vendor proposals and contract terms; recommend cost-saving and risk-mitigation strategies
- Negotiate contracts structure vendor agreements and partner with Legal on contract reviews
- Manage ongoing vendor relationships and SLAs for multiple key contracts
- Communicate project status escalate issues and coordinate with cross-functional teams (Legal IT Security Finance Facilities Library)
- Identify business process improvement opportunities and drive continuous refinement
- Work independently on complex sourcing problems using analytical and strategic thinking
- Plan project schedules manage multiple concurrent initiatives and mentor junior team members as needed
### Required Qualifications
- **Bachelors degree** in Business Finance or related field
- **Minimum 5 years of sourcing experience** (procurement vendor management spend management) ideally with Law Firm or professional services industry experience
- **Strong communication skills:** oral written and presentation abilities in diverse settings (1-on-1 small groups large stakeholders)
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects with competing deadlines
- Strong analytical problem-solving and organizational skills
- Ability to work collaboratively and preserve confidentiality
### Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in **Professional Services or Library Research services** (LexisNexis research tools information management)
- Law firm or professional services industry background
- Experience with creative contract negotiation and vendor relationship management
- Proactive hands-on approach to problem-solving
