Navitas Healthcare LLC is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Surgical Coordinator to manage the scheduling and coordination of operating room (OR) procedures. This role plays a critical part in ensuring efficient workflow accurate documentation and seamless communication between patients providers and insurance carriers. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in surgical scheduling and insurance authorization processes within a fast-paced healthcare environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Coordinate and schedule all surgical procedures and operating room activities
Verify patient demographics and insurance information
Obtain pre-authorizations and pre-certifications from insurance carriers
Ensure all required medical clearances are completed prior to procedures
Serve as a liaison between referring physicians surgeons and patients
Conduct surgical confirmation calls prior to scheduled procedures
Schedule post-operative follow-up appointments
Monitor front office workflow and implement improvements for efficiency
Address patient inquiries regarding procedures scheduling and policies
Train and mentor junior staff as needed
Maintain accurate records in electronic medical record systems (e.g. Cerner)
Distribute required documentation to internal and external stakeholders
Perform additional administrative duties as assigned
Required Qualifications:
Minimum 2 years of experience in surgical scheduling or coordination
Strong knowledge of insurance authorization and pre-certification processes
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Strong customer service and interpersonal skills
Exceptional attention to detail and organizational ability
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with EPIC or similar EMR systems
Associates Degree
