Position Summary
We are excited to announce that Lauren is on the lookout for a talented Senior Transient Analysis Engineer Process & Hydraulics! In this pivotal role you will become a technical authority on steady-state and transient hydraulic analysis for our EPC projects which encompass pipelines facilities and process systems.
This position is water hammer surge slugging and dynamic upset conditions as a key player in the project phases.
Key Responsibilities
Transient & Hydraulic Analysis Leadership
- Lead and conduct thorough steady-state and transient hydraulic analyses for pipeline and facility piping systems.
- Delve into complex scenarios involving water hammer surge slugging valve dynamics pump/compressor trips emergency shutdowns and start-up/shutdown conditions.
- Develop validate and maintain hydraulic and transient models using cutting-edge industry-standard simulation tools.
- Identify potential vulnerabilities within systems and outline effective mitigation strategies including surge relief systems pressure control methods valve sequencing and control logic recommendations.
- Offer insightful technical review and assurance for transient analyses performed by others ensuring the highest standards of quality.
Process Engineering & EPC Integration
- Integrate your findings on transient and hydraulic dynamics into cohesive process engineering deliverables including line sizing equipment sizing control narratives and operating philosophies.
- Prepare and review detailed engineering calculations technical reports and formal recommendations suited for EPC execution and client review.
- Develop and review PFDs P&IDs and system design documentation ensuring early consideration of hydraulic factors in the design process.
- Uphold and ensure compliance with relevant codes and standards including CSA ASME API AER and recognized industry best practices maintaining our commitment to excellence.
Project Support & Collaboration
- Collaborate closely with our mechanical instrumentation electrical pipeline and project management teams to ensure a seamless integrated EPC delivery.
- Play a vital role in commissioning start-up and troubleshooting activities related to hydraulic and transient performance.
- Communicate your complex technical findings clearly and engagingly to clients regulators and internal stakeholders through presentations and written documentation.
- Establish yourself as a subject matter expert for transient analysis actively contributing to the development of internal standards and best practices.
Education & Professional Registration
- A Bachelors degree in Chemical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering is a must.
- A Masters degree in a related discipline is a valuable asset.
- . registration with APEGA and/or EGBC or eligibility to obtain is essential.
- A U.S. P.E. designation will be considered a wonderful asset.
Experience
- 10 years of dynamic experience in process pipeline or facility hydraulics engineering.
- Demonstrated expertise in both transient and steady-state hydraulic analysis for oil & gas or industrial systems.
- Proven experience in evaluating surge water hammer slugging and dynamic operating scenarios.
- Experience supporting EPC or EPCM projects through all critical design construction and commissioning phases.
- Familiar with pipelines compression facilities gathering systems and process facilities.
Technical Skills
Software & Tools
- Hydraulic & Transient Modeling: Synergi Pipeline Simulator AFT Fathom AFT Impulse (or equivalent)
- Process Simulation: Aspen HYSYS VMG Symmetry
- Engineering documentation and digital tools such as Bluebeam and ConsignO.

- Strong technical writing and reporting capabilities.
- Ability to effectively review and interpret engineering drawings specifications and calculations.
- A confident communicator in client-facing technical discussions.

- Familiarity with codes & standards including CSA ASME API AER and relevant industry guidelines.
