Job Summary

We are looking for a Behaviour Support Teaching Assistant for a school-based role. The school needs someone confident supporting pupils with SEMH behaviour needs and pupils who may require calm consistent boundaries. This is not a passive support role. You need to be resilient steady and able to build positive relationships with pupils. Experience in schools PRU/AP settings youth work mentoring or behaviour support would be useful. Postgraduate qualification or accredited training in SEND (e.g. National Award for SEN Coordination Autism Education Trust dyslexia/SpLD or SEMH specialism).Proficiency in alternative/augmentative communication methodsMakaton PECS AAC using evidence-based interventions such as TEACCH SCERTS or Positive Behaviour in Team-Teach MAPA or similar de-escalation and safe-handling with assistive ed-tech tools and adaptive software
