Information Systems and Cyber Division (ISCD)staff couple the latest in information system technologies such as elastic compute clouds containerization microservices real-time operating systems and visualization frameworks with expertise in cyber security software architecture software engineering data science Artificial Intelligence process improvement and software development to deliver responsive resilient high-performance software intensive systems to our Intelligence Community DoD and civilian customers.

The Cloud Platforms & Architectures Department (CPAD) is the center-of-excellence for cloud computing and cloud-related technologies within The Aerospace Corporation. CPADs overall goal is to stay at the forefront of cloud technology to enable our customers to effectivelyleverageit to fulfill theirspacemission needs.CPAD works with a variety of government organizations contractors and cloud service providersto help government programs design architectandevolvetheir cloud systems.They also provide the government and contractors with guidance on best practices for developing implementing andoperatingcloud systems in support of government space missions.Ifyourea passionate and driven individual who is excited about developing advanced cloud solutions that keep our nation at the forefront of space systems capabilities consider joining our team of talented engineers.

Work Model

  • This is a fulltime position based inColorado Springs COwhichrequires100% onsite work.

WhatYoullBe Doing

  • Collaborate withDoD IC and Civil spacemission owners to understand their cloud technology uses cases and mission needs.

  • Work with cloudservice providers(e.g. Amazon Web Services Microsoft Azure Google Cloud Platform) to understand their technologiesandhelp the government and their contractors effectively adopt those technologies.

  • Act as a technical lead on prototyping efforts todemonstrateand benchmarkcloud technologies onspacemission use cases.

  • Provide guidance and reference cloudarchitecturesand best practices for the space enterprise.

  • Conduct cloud architecture reviews of customer mission systems.

  • Develop cloud migration strategies for customer mission systems.

  • Perform cloud cost estimations and optimizations for customer mission systems

  • Capture and share best-practice knowledge amongst the Aerospace Corporationscloudsolution architect community.

  • Create and deliver presentations to internal teams and external stakeholders.

What You Need to be Successful Engineering Specialist Cloud Computing Architecture

MinimumRequirements:

  • Bachelors degree in Computer Scienceor a related STEM field.

  • At least8years of experience working withsoftware IT systemsand related technologies.

  • At least 5 years of experience working with cloudtechnologies.

  • Indepthknowledgeandhandsonexperiencewithatleastonepubliccloudserviceprovider(e.g.AmazonWebServicesMicrosoftAzureGoogleCloudPlatform).

  • In depth understanding anddemonstratedexperience withwell architected cloud concepts: operational excellence performance efficiency security reliability and cost optimization.

  • Experience in designingarchitectingdeveloping implementingoperating and evolving cloudsystems to support customers.

  • Proventrack recordof working with customers to understand requirements and buildcloudsolutions to meet those requirements.

  • Willing to traveldomesticallyto work locationscustomer sites and conferences up to10% if.

  • This position requires an active TS/SCI clearanceissued by the U.S. government.

How You Can Stand Out

It would be impressive if you have one or more of these:

  • Advanced degree in Computer Science or a related STEM field.

  • Certifications related to cloud computing (e.g. AWS Solutions Architect Azure Solutions Architect Google Cloud Engineer).

  • Certifications related to cybersecurity(e.g.Security CISSP).

  • Familiarity with satellite and ground systems architectures.

The grade-based pay range for this job is listed below. Individual salaries within that range are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education experience knowledge and skills.
