CLS is currently searching for a service-minded mission driven individual to fill the following position:

Pro Bono Coordinator

OVERVIEW

Reporting to the Manager of Pro Bono ServicesthePro Bono Coordinatoracts as a liaison between CLS and the private bar associations while promoting pro bono involvement by the private position recruits and schedules attorneys for virtual or in-person Legal Advice Clinics full representation case placement and other pro bono projects throughout the law firms service area. They also participate in and assist inallthe law firms activities for recruiting retaining and recognizing pro bono attorneys. Responsible for maintaining the Pro Bono office systemized and orderly to achieve maximum efficiency in the delivery of quality legal services to clients. This position has the potential to be remote/hybrid but will require the first 90 days of employment in person in the Orlando office.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Manage pro bono referrals and direct intakes by placing cases with appropriate volunteer attorneys; track case progression through quarterly status reports.
  2. Monitor volunteer attorney time and expenses submit reimbursement check requests and close case files in a timely manner.
  3. Coordinate Legal Advice Clinics including recruiting attorneys and scheduling client appointments.
  4. Maintain clinic logs electronic case records and time entries in the case management system for compliance.
  5. Network with attorneys through monthly attendance at Bar Association functions Family Law Section meetings and Legal Support Association events.
  6. Assist with the planning organizing and preparing for the recognition events held for all volunteersincluding the nomination for Florida Supreme Court Pro Bono awards and pro bono service recognitionawards throughout the service area.
  7. Submit articles and pictures to Communications to promote and recognize attorneys.
  8. Recruit attorneys for community education presentations maintain attendance records and log attorney time in the case management system.
  9. Assist with developing video and PowerPoint materials for presentations.
  10. Recruit and work with volunteers and law students on all projects that may be delegated and suitablefor the recruited volunteers.
  11. Assist with establishing training for attorneys to learn areas of law involving our clients needs.
  12. Record attorney time for Teen Court Programs in the case management system and coordinate recognition efforts with the program.
  13. Answer telephones and refer callers to appropriate staff members CLS units and other agencies as appropriate.
  14. Ensure compliance with firm policies procedures and applicable Legal Services Corporation (LSC) grant regulations maintaining accurate documentation and adherence to reporting and operational requirements.
  15. May perform duties of the work of higher or lower classified positions as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS

1. Commitment

2. Background and Experience

  1. Bachelor of Arts degree is preferred.
  2. Law office and legal experience preferred.
  3. Must have strong communication skills both verbal and written.
  4. Bilingual (English-Spanish)preferred.
  5. Must demonstrate compassion and commitment to understanding and addressing issues of low-income clients.
  6. Must be a self-motivated professional and capable of independently managing workload and prioritizing tasks in a fast-paced legal environment with minimal supervision.
  7. Microsoft Office Suite proficiency required.
  8. Ability to perform duties and attend meetings and/or other functions throughout 12 county service area.
  9. Valid Florida automobile license use of own auto and proof of insurance necessary to travel on behalf of CLS; possibility of working weekends and evenings.

3. Physical Requirements

a. Prolonged periods siting at a desk and working on a computer.

b. Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times.

STARTING SALARY: $50000 more with experience
