The Product Manager Intern is responsible for helping manage product lines processes or identifying opportunities in a manner which contributes positively to the companys bottom line. This position works with the Merchandising team as well as other departments as needed to develop comprehensive assortment strategies or process improvements to meet consumer needs. Product Manager Intern responsibilities include but are not limited to maintaining appropriate inventory levels performing pricing analyses assisting with product development and helping with promotional efforts or key initiatives.
About the Role of a Product Manager Intern:
- Develop and manage a strategic business plan for the life cycle of a product line
- Suggest for approval buy and sell prices for new and existing product lines
- Update buy and sell prices on website. Verify posted buy prices are in alignment with current market prices and inventory position; ensure buy price provides necessary margins for profit goals and address any margin or other pricing issues that are found
- Search for and research new items to sell.
- Develop and communicate clear concepts and plans to expand a product line
- Provide recommendations to Site Merchandising for email promotions and banners advertisements to use on the company website or app.
- Review inventory out-of-stock reports inventory depletions and inventory low stock notices to ensure acceptable inventory levels are maintained; utilize sales and clearance categories to drawn down excess inventory where appropriate
- Review all daily and weekly reports to accurately manage product lines
QualificationsThe following make a candidate a good fit for this internship:
- Junior/Senior level or recent college graduates required
- Working towards or will soon obtain a Bachelors degree in Business Administration Marketing or a related field.
- Prior experience in dealing with financial reporting is preferred i.e. margin sales inventory
- Knowledge of pricing strategies and profit margins required
- Experience in retail e-commerce financial or the precious metals industry is preferred
- Experience working cross functionally
- Advanced to intermediate skills in Microsoft Excel
- Intermediate skills with other Microsoft Office products.
