This multidisciplinary team leads the delivery of civil and track worksleveragingglobalexpertiseto introduce innovative solutions across the GO Transit network.
What Youll Do:
Implements safety management programs toeliminatehazards mitigate risk and align with theONxpressSafety Management Systems; implements corrective action plans to ensure non-compliance issues are addressed appropriately.
Reviews incident investigations report tracks and analyses accident and injury trends toidentifyareas for improvement and development andrecommendintervention strategies that enhance safety awareness and reduce accidents; prepares safety performance reports for management review.
Leads and performs safety assurance audits and inspections of the work of business units and external contractors toidentifysafety hazards associated with the work performed.
Leads and coordinates with a variety of internal departments toestablishannual safetyobjectivesand performance indicators;coordinates with management to develop safety goalsobjectives safety initiatives and actions plans.
Liaises with external contractors and safety representatives and reviews contracts and safety management plans for adherencewithsafety programs; provides recommendations to meetMetrolinx safety requirements.
Leads and performs risk assessments to eliminate or reduce hazardous effects on the public passengers and employees;validatescorrective actions plans; works with business units on the implementation of corrective action plans.
Reports on andinvestigatescritical incidents and those with high-risk potential; investigates or provides close-out of investigations performed by external contractors; coordinates orfacilitatescomplex investigations.
Liaises and works collaboratively with the broader safety division and business units with respect to hazard identification and control contractor monitoring regulatory requirements accident investigation and notifications to external authorities.
Leads the development of and implements internal systems tomonitorcompliance with established policies and procedures.
Managers the safety program related to our contractors heavy railcomplianceand regulations
Collect and analyze data from train derailments collisions and other accidents todeterminethe causes
Inspect and evaluate railway property rollingstockand train handling characteristics to ensure compliancetooperating standards.
What You Bring:
Completion of a degree in Business Administration or a related Canadian Railway Operating Rules discipline or a combination of education training and Class 1 railway experiencedeemedequivalent
Minimum 8 years experience leading and managing train operation services; experienced operator with a focus on incident and safety management.
Past or present CROR qualification (as a Conductor Locomotive Engineer or as a Manager in a certain railway discipline) OR the ability to obtain CROR qualification is required.
Knowledge of Canadian Railway Operating Rules (CROR).
Knowledge of process development ownership and governance.
Possess acute Operating Practices acumen.
Knowledge of applicable legal and regulatory requirements governing delivery of passenger rail services (e.g. Transport Canada (TC) Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) Association of American Railroads (AAR) American Public Transportation Association (APTA) Passenger Rail Equipment Safety Standards (PRESS) Railway Association of Canada (RAC) Canadian Rail Operating Rules (CROR) Ontario provincial and municipal standards and best practices building codes contracts and environmental legislation) is required.
Knowledge of Human Resources legislation (e.g. Employment Standards Act Occupational Health & Safety Act etc.) tomonitorand manage employees and contractors including experience in the application of collective agreement provisions.
Project management principles and practices including budget and schedule controls to lead and direct cross functional teams and consultants engaged in simultaneous projects (i.e. development project progress related staff and project resources) and monitor project activities for adherence to timelines budgets and project performanceobjectives.
Managerialexpertiseto provide senior technical and administrative leadership to a small department and consultants.
Analytical skills to supervise emergency responses and supervise related investigations for adherence to established policies and procedures.
Knowledge of budget development and management processes.
Proficiencyin MS Office (e.g. Outlook Word Excel PowerPoint etc.).
Interpersonal and oral/written/presentation skills to create andmaintainsupport data and technical specifications.
Expected compensation for this role is between $115000-$130000annually. Base salaries aredeterminedaccording to multiple factors including skillsexperienceand potential impact on the role.
