Job Summary
SSL is looking for a Lead Teacher of Chemistry from August 2026.
The core purpose of this role is toprovideacademic leadership and support of the subject area within the school. TheHoDis a champion for the subject and for high quality delivery of teaching and exemplary learning by their team leading to full accountability for learning outcomes.
The role will initially be based at Senior School Leidschenveen (SSL) and may require the candidate to work in another campus in the future.

Main tasks / responsibilities:
Line management of staff.
Work collaboratively with other HoDs (e.g. Biology and Physics).
Liaise withthe SLTon matters concerning the content and delivery of the curriculum to ensure that they meet the standards required by the School Development Plan national curriculum schemes of work and exam board specifications.
Ensure that the curriculum and alladditionalactivities are set up in line with school policy.
Provideandmaintaininformation for staff on assessment policies and procedures.
Arrange and lead field tripswhere relevant andprovidecurriculum enrichment opportunities.
Actively explore opportunities for students to compete in their subject area with other students/schools .
Provideadvice toSLTon staff development requirements andcontribute to theprofessional development ofsubject areastaff.
Manage the allocation of resources and the budget within thesubject areaincluding the deployment of staff and timetables.
Oversee teaching carry out reviews lesson observations and monitoring to assure quality of learning.
Providethe necessary documentationand information relating to the subject area forinspection or accreditation processes.
Ensure that effective communication takes placewithparents on issues of academic progress and curriculum delivery.
Represent thesubjectin for example options evenings and transition evenings.
Ensure teaching staff and technical support staffoperatesafely within the workplace andmaintaina high standard ofhousekeeping.
Take responsibility for subject staffmeetings aswell as contribute actively to whole school meetings whenrequested.
The salary range for this position is 451615 - 614586 gross EUR monthly depending on experience. Additionally the candidate will receive a monthly responsibility allowance od 57936 gross EUR monthly. All figures shown are including the 9% holiday allowance.
