The Role
TheCapital Management & Special ProjectsController Groupteam is looking for an innovative forward-thinking detail-orientedanalyst to join their team. TheCapital Management& Special ProjectSr Finance Analystis responsible forunderstanding GMs end-to-endfixed assetprocessesincludinginvestmentoperations systemsfinancialsandthe relatedcontrol environment. The role requiresa high levelof independent judgmentand initiative decision makingandserving as a strategic business partner across the enterprise to bringtimelyand insighted decisions.
What Youll Do
Analysis and reporting of month-end capital and PP&E balances including global PP&E capitalaccrualsand associated P&L impacts
Support and collaborate with Global Business Solutions (GBS)fixed asset teamto ensure compliance with APM requirementseffectivecontrolsandaccuratereporting
Collaborate closely with Global Capital Management Finance to ensure alignment of capital investmentsand any required disclosures
Navigate and understand various systemsimpactingfixed assetsincludingeSAPeTools ITD transformation Global Ledger FINCORE GCARS etc.
Oversight reviewreconciliationand consolidation of allEV Strategic initiatives associated with PP&E includingcash flow implications.
Overseeanalyzeand review the General Motors SpecialtyVehicles(GMSV)statutory audit processes collaborating with the StatutoryCoE tax andGMsexternalauditors.
Utilizenew technologiesand solutions tocreate more robust controlsprocessefficienciesand impactful reporting packages
Presentation of financial resultsto other members of the organizationincluding leadership
Assistwith special projects and adhocrequests
Develop strongrelationshipwithbusinesspartnerssupport requests/inquiriesincluding Controllership FinanceITand various other operational partners
Maintain controls and work with Financial Assurance andexternal auditorstosupport auditrequirementsstreamline existing businessprocessesand develop new/enhanced control procedures
Model GMs desired behaviors including safety
Actively promote GMs cultureofinclusion
RequiredQualifications
Bachelors Degree inaccounting financebusinessor related field
Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Chartered Accountant (CA) (preferred)
Public accounting firm experience (preferred)
5 years of relevant experience(preferred)
Experience with Sarbanes-Oxley compliance
Strong written and oral communication skills
Ability to understand and apply accounting and financial reporting standards (US GAAP)
Ability to prioritize assignments/projects take onadditionalresponsibilitiesand deliver within restricted time constraints
Strong interpersonal skills anddemonstratedcommitment to teamwork and partnerships
Focus on learning and personal development
Ability to embrace and manage change
Desired Qualifications
Develop a detailed understanding of GMs processes and systems toidentifycontrol gaps and any opportunities to streamline processes and controls
Assistwith internal and external financial reporting includinganalyzingconsolidatedresultsdrafting SEC documents and management review reports
Research and interpret new accounting standards and brainstorm how each apply to GM as well ascomply withexternal 10-Q/10-K reporting requirements
Support strategic initiatives and transformation activities focused on empowering our all-electric future
Develop analytics and tools to provide insights into the results for business units and regions
Recommend types ofautomations analytics and data processing approaches to meet business objectives
Initiate and support enhancements that improve the quality and speed of the monthly close process
Resolve complex accounting issuesimpactingstrategic business initiatives andidentifypotential accounting risks
Complete special assignments outside of core job responsibilities
Location: Hybrid. This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to the - Global HQ Warren Mi three times per week at minimum or other frequency dictated by the business
