The Laser Operator is a part of the Manufacturing Team and is responsible for the set-up and operation of the CNC fiber laser in order to produce the highest quality products to meet customer requirements.

Responsibilities include

• Operating and processing parts effectively and efficiently according to print and traveler requirements
• Monitoring machine cutting performance and utilization
• Understanding of machine setup and shut down including program retrieval proper gases proper nozzles and materials
• Safely operating overhead crane forklift calipers grinders and other hand tools required for the job
• Diagnosing machining problems while performing jobs making modifications as needed.
• Checking quality of product machined and notify supervisor of process issues
• Performing operator maintenance and/or housekeeping per established schedules
• Adhering to all JMS safety procedures and regulations
• Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

• Must possess a minimum of 1 year of laser operation experience in a manufacturing environment
• Requires use of basic math to analyze information and measuring equipment working with close tolerances
• Ability to work safely and efficiently
• Ability to work in a team and independently
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instruction and written processes
• Knowledge of sheet metal thicknesses and material types
• Ability to repeatedly lift up to 50 lbs moving product off table throughout the shift
• Reliable attendance and ability to work flexible work hours (standard shift 5:00am 3:30pm M-Th. (Friday and Saturday OT as required)

Desired Experience and Skills

• Proficiency with nesting software preferably ProNest
• Experience with ERP system preferably Epicor

Education

• High school diploma or GED equivalent
