Job Summary

General Responsibilities: Leads the development and implementation of high-quality special education instruction fostering collaboration to design assess and improve instructional programs and services.

Essential Duties:

  • Provide leadership in the design implementation and continuous improvement of special education instructional programs and services.
  • Oversee the delivery of specialized instruction to ensure alignment with curriculum standards student IEPs and evidence-based practices.
  • Facilitate and support multi-disciplinary team collaboration to address student needs and ensure cohesive service delivery to support student achievement.
  • Monitor student progress and program effectiveness using data to inform instructional decisions and program improvements.
  • Plans develops and provides high-quality professional learning focused on effective instructional practices inclusion and differentiated instruction.
  • Support the integration of special education services within general education settings promoting inclusive instructional practices.
  • Coordinate program activities and resources across schools or departments to ensure consistency and quality of instruction.
  • Collaborate with division and school leaders to ensure special education instructional assistants receive ongoing training and support aligned with program goals and evidence-based practices.
  • Develop implement and revise policies procedures and instructional frameworks to enhance program effectiveness.
  • Help coordinate staffing scheduling and instructional resources to meet student and program needs.
  • Serve as a resource and point of support for school administrators teachers and staff regarding special education instruction and services.
  • Assist in resolving instructional and program-related issues impacting students with diverse learning needs.
  • Coordinate and supervise the divisions ESY Program.
  • Oversee home instruction ensuring appropriate staffing documentation and service delivery.
  • Supervise and evaluate members of the Department of Special Services to strengthen instructional capacity and service delivery to meet the diverse needs of students with disabilities.
  • Monitor related services programming and implementation to ensure quality consistency and effectiveness across schools.
  • Participate in strategic planning and decision-making to advance the overall goals of the division.

Requisite Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of special education instruction service delivery models and evidence-based practices.
  • Understanding of inclusive practices and differentiated instruction.
  • Ability to supervise and evaluate staff.
  • Skill in using data to monitor student progress and improve instructional programs.
  • Strong collaboration communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage complex instructional initiatives across schools.

Requisite Education and Experience:

  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience special education or related educational settings with demonstrated responsibility for instructional programming and student outcomes.
  • Masters degree in Special Education or a closely related field required.
  • Must possess a Postgraduate Professional License with an endorsement in Administration and Supervision of PreK-12.
  • Demonstrated school- and/or division-level leadership experience overseeing special education instructional programs and services.
  • Experience with supervision and evaluation requireds.

Physical Requirements:

Must have the use of sensory skills in order to effectively communicate and interact with other employees and the public through the use of the telephone and personal contact as normally defined by the ability to see read talk hear handle or feel objects and controls. Physical capability to effectively use and operate various items of office related equipment such as but not limited to: a personal computer calculator copier and fax machine. Some climbing stooping kneeling crouching reaching standing walking pushing pulling lifting grasping or repetitive motions required.
