Nature of Work

The fundamental reason this positionexists is to assist in planning coordinating and supervising the maintenanceof the Citys parks and related public grounds. The work responsibilitiesinclude overseeing daily and seasonal maintenance activities and supervisingmaintenance crews performing grounds upkeep landscaping turf care irrigationrepair playground inspection and facility maintenance assisting withscheduling and directing maintenance operations conducting inspections to ensurecompliance with safety and maintenance standards coordinating contractedservices and special projects performing administrative duties related to workorders inventory and equipment and supporting planning for future parkimprovements. The employee reports directly to the Parks DivisionSuperintendent.

Minimum Qualifications

A Highschool diploma or GED and four (4) years of experience in parks grounds or landscapemaintenance including one (1) year in a supervisory or lead worker role.

NOTE: Qualifyingeducation training and experience that provide the requisite knowledgeskills and abilities to perform the job will be considered.

Special Requirements

Work is performed primarily outdoors in varying weatherconditions and requires standing walking bending lifting to 50 pounds andoperating maintenance equipment; the work may involve exposure to chemicalsnoise equipment hazards and uneven terrain and occasionally requires afterhoursor oncall duty for emergencies or special events. Must possess a validdrivers license to drive city vehicles.

Kind of Examination

The current vacancy is with theCity ofMontgomery Parks and Recreation Department. Applicants will be screened and qualified based upon education and experience as shown on the application and supplemental questionnaire.
