Job Summary
Overview
The Pharmacist in Charge (PIC)is responsible forensuring full regulatory legal and compliance oversight of the pharmacy while also functioning within a Staff Pharmacist capacity for the site. This role serves as the designated pharmacist of record with state and federal regulatory agencies andmaintainsaccountability for pharmacy operations meeting all applicable laws regulations accreditation standards and company policies.
Whilemaintaininga strong focus on compliance inspections and documentation the PIC activelyparticipatesin daily dispensing operations clinical review and pharmacist coverage as needed to support safeaccurate andtimelymedication delivery.

Responsibilities
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Regulatory & Compliance Oversight
- Serve as the designatedPICper state board of pharmacy requirements.
- Ensure compliance with allFederalState and local laws and regulations governing pharmacy operations including DEA Board of Pharmacy and other regulatory bodies.
- Maintain pharmacy permits licenses controlled substance registrations andpostings with support and approval from Symbrialegal counsel.
- Oversee controlled substance accountability recordkeeping storage and audits.
- Prepare for manage and respond to regulatory inspections audits and deficiency plans of correctionina timelyandaccuratemanner.
- Ensure policies procedures and workflows align with regulatory and accreditation standards.
- Maintainaccuratepharmacy records including transaction logs perpetual inventories and required reports.
- Monitor regulatory changes and communicate updates to leadership and staff as applicable.
- Partner with theAreaPharmacy Manager Regional Pharmacy Leaders Quality(QAPI) and Compliance teams on regulatory initiatives audits and performance improvement activities.
Staff Pharmacist Functions
- Perform all core responsibilities of a Staff Pharmacist including:
- Interpreting and verifying new and refill medication orders for clinical appropriateness and accuracy.
- Clarifying questionable or inappropriate orders with prescribers.
- Transcribing and reviewing telephone orders.
- Conducting final verification of prepared medications prior to dispensing.
- Providing drug information and clinical consultation to prescribers nursing staff and patients.
- Monitoring patient therapy labs and clinical indicators and recommending therapy adjustments asappropriate.
- Monitoring and managing TPN therapy dosing adjustments and related coordination.
- Providing patient counseling and medication review includingtelepharmacyservices when applicable.
- Support daily operational workflow to ensure productivity accuracy and on-time delivery standards are met.
Operational & Team Support
- Collaborate with pharmacy leadership to support efficient workflows and compliance-driven operations.
- Serve as a professional resource and role model for pharmacists and techniciansregardingregulatory standards and best practices.
- Assistwith training and education related to compliance documentation and pharmacy procedures.
- Participate in on-call coverage and flexible scheduling as operational needs dictate.
- Identifyopportunities for process improvement related to regulatory risk reduction and operational efficiency.
- Performadditionalduties asassigned to support safe and effective pharmacy operations.
Qualifications
Education & Qualifications
Required:
- Prior experience serving asPharmacistin Charge or regulatory lead.
- Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) from anNABP-accreditedcollege of pharmacy.
- Active unrestricted pharmacist license in applicable state(s)
- Missouri (Required)
- Kansas (Required)
- Must have or be willing toacquireadditionalstate licensesbased on business needs.
- Eligibility and willingness to be designated Pharmacist in Charge.
- Minimum of three (3) years of institutional pharmacy experience.
- Strong working knowledge of federal and state pharmacy regulations.
- Proficiencywith pharmacy systems and Microsoft Office (Outlook Word Excel).
- Strong written verbal and professional communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to organize prioritize and manage multiple responsibilities.
Preferred:
- Long-term care or institutional pharmacy experience.
- Experience supporting audits inspections or accreditation surveys.
- Knowledge of quality assurance and compliance programs.
Physical Demands & Work Environment
- Ability to stand or walk for extended periods during operational coverage.
- Close visual acuityfor verification and documentation review.
- Regular use of computer systems and standard office equipment.
- Occasional lifting up to 25 pounds.
