The School of Engineering in the College of Aeronautics and Engineering at Kent State University invites applications for a full-time non-tenure track faculty position in Advanced Manufacturing and Foundry Technology. This position represents an opportunity to contribute to a growing interdisciplinary college that integrates engineering engineering technology and aeronautics to support innovation workforce development and industry engagement across Ohio and beyond.

Additional Basic Function if applicable:

Position Overview

We seek an experienced and highly engaged educator with expertise in manufacturing processes materials and metal forming and casting to support undergraduate and graduate instruction in engineering and engineering technology. The successful candidate will contribute to a hands-on application-driven curriculum that prepares students for careers in advanced manufacturing and related industries.

Teaching responsibilities will span foundational and applied areas such as materials and processes manufacturing methods and metal casting and forming including patternmaking and fabrication. The faculty member should be comfortable delivering instruction in both lecture and laboratory settings and contributing to courses that may be offered at the undergraduate level graduate level or in cross-listed formats.

In addition this individual will serve as the colleges Foundry Education Foundation (FEF) Key Professor acting as a coordinator and advocate for student engagement with FEF-supported this role the faculty member will facilitate awareness of and access to scholarships internships and industry connections ensuring that students are broadly informed and encouraged to pursue these opportunities. The Key Professor will support and strengthen relationships with FEF and industry partners while maintaining an open student-centered approach that promotes equitable access to opportunities.

  • Coordinating FEF-related activities and communications
  • Promoting student awareness of FEF scholarships internships and career pathways
  • Facilitating connections between students and industry partners
  • Supporting an inclusive transparent approach to student access to opportunities

Additional Examples of Duties if applicable:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelors in manufacturing engineering foundry technology materials science mechanical engineering engineering technology or a closely related field
  • Masters degree in relevant field
  • Demonstrated knowledge of manufacturing and materials processes including metal casting forming or related advanced manufacturing methods
  • Evidence of engagement with current manufacturing practices and industry trends through professional experience education or collaboration
  • Demonstrated ability to teach or train in applied hands-on environments

Preferred Qualifications if applicable:

  • Prior teaching experience at the college level
  • Experience with foundry operations patternmaking casting design metallurgical processes or advanced manufacturing technologies
  • Familiarity with industry standards and modern manufacturing practices
  • Experience engaging with industry organizations or workforce development initiatives
  • Strong interest in building partnerships and supporting student career pathways

Working Conditions / Physical Requirements:

Light work-Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently to move objects. Incumbent must be able to communicate with others. Incumbent may be required to travel from building to building frequently and off campus occasionally.
