Job Summary
POSITION SUMMARY:
Huckleberry Youth Programs mission is to work in solidarity with young people and their families to advance their personal growth and social equity. We are a community-based organization that provides a spectrum of services to youth between the ages of 11-24 and their families in San Francisco and Marin counties. Our programming focuses on the core areas of safety health justice and education.
The Division Director Safety Programs provides comprehensive oversight of two San Francisco based programs. The two programs in the Safety Programs Division include:
- Huckleberry House an emergency shelter serving youth ages 12-18
- The Huckleberry Advocacy and Response Team (HART) a program providing crisis response case management therapy education and advocacy for youth ages 11-24 who have either experienced commercial sexual exploitation or are at-risk of exploitation
The overall scope of work for the position includes direct supervision of program management grant and contract development and administration compliance activities program development community engagement oversight of program funding and organizational leadership. The Division Director reports to the CEO and is a member of the Executive Team at Huckleberry Youth Programs.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Direct supervision of Huckleberry House Program Director and Senior Manager of HART. This includes: weekly supervision meetings performance evaluation being available for consultation and coaching and mentoring.
- Providing support to program line staff. This includes: serving as back up for managers when they are out of office consultation for staff attending weekly team meetings as possible back up on call duties as needed and responding in emergency situations as needed.
- Participating in the full life cycle of grants and contracts. This includes: writing proposals executing contract documents implementation activities quality assurance reporting on outcomes monitoring compliance and required meetings.
- Ensuring compliance with grants contracts and Community Care Licensing. This also includes compliance with laws regarding confidentiality minor consentand the mandated reporting of child abuse.
- Ensuring that program policies and procedures are comprehensive and up to date. Working with program management to maintain updated program manuals and emergency procedures.
- Actively searching for opportunities for Program development or expansion of services. This includes being knowledgeable about community trends and service gaps. Maintaining relationships with funders and community partners to seek opportunities for growth.
- Engaging community partners. This includes participating in collaborations community committees community and partner events and outreach activities. Providing training and consultation to partners developing partner agreements or MOUs and special community projects are additional engagement activities.
- Providing oversight over program finances. This includes working with the CEO and Finance team to provide information data and feedback for program budgets monitoring program expenses and staffing allocations.
- Integrating San Francisco Programs. This includes leading Division Meetings participation in San Francisco Management meetings and acting as a liaison between the San Francisco-based programs.
- Developing agency wide policies as needed. This includes updating and revising particular the Division Director is responsible for the Overdose Prevention and Harm Reduction Policy the Reasonable Accommodations Policy and the Law Enforcement Action Policy and Protocols.
- Providing organizational leadership as a member of the Executive Team. This also includes weekly Executive Team meetings and regular management meetings. Serving as a liaison between staff and the Executive Team and staff and the Board of Directors are also important aspects of the leadership role. As directed by the CEO participate in fundraising events and activities.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelors degree in Public Administration/Social Services or a combination of 5 years education and work experience
- Minimum 3 years experience in management position of a youth service agency with responsibilities for program management and development
- Successful experience in grant-writing and administration
- Successful experience in providing social services to diverse communities
- Experience awareness and knowledge of cultures of San Francisco youth and families
- Proven track record of community collaboration and engagement
PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Experience facilitating a harm reduction client centered and empowerment approach
with youth and families.
- Experience facilitating a trauma informed healing and safe environment for youth and staff
ADDITIONAL ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS:
- Recent TB clearance
- Have or will complete first aid/cpr training
- Fully vaccinated for COVID 19
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
This position operates in an on-site/hybrid model working at various program sites in San Francisco. The HYP Administrative Offices are located in San Francisco and are accessible by public transportation. This position operates in a professional office environment using standard equipment. Occasional evening/weekend and on-call duties will be required to support the team.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
The employee must be able to lift and/or carry up to 10 pounds unassisted on an occasional basis. While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to talk hear and sit. The employee is required to stand walk climb stairs and use hands to find handle or feel objects tools or controls.
