Open Door is currently seeking aBilingual Medical Assistantfor its Mount Kisco NY location.
Responsibilities
- Performs and accurately records patient chief complaints medical history screening tests vital signs vision and hearing screenings EKG and spirometry for neonatal pediatric adolescent adult and geriatric patients
- Assists providers with examinations and diagnostic or therapeutic procedures
- Reinforces patient education provided by clinical staff
- Performs medical clerical tasks such as patient registration appointment scheduling check-in and check-out cash collection claims creation preparing clinic schedules and retrieving medical records
- Maintains strict confidentiality of printed and electronic patient information in compliance with privacy laws and regulations
- Ensures protection of sensitive information from unauthorized access or disclosure
- Maintains effective patient-technician relationships
- If designated completes required training and certification for biohazardous waste removal prior to performing the task
- Demonstrates patient-centered care through empathy active listening and effective communication
- Documents necessary information in the electronic medical record including referrals and medical forms
- Ensures all clinical documentation is completed in the electronic medical record before the end of the business day in compliance with TJC standards
- Participates in patient counseling and education related to primary care including HIV/STD prevention and treatment health maintenance prenatal care and family planning
- Performs basic laboratory procedures such as rapid strep tests urinalysis pregnancy testing hemoglobin A1C blood glucose monitoring and venipuncture.
- Records and reports lab results accurately and maintains laboratory instruments according to training and competency guidelines
- Collects and labels laboratory specimens including blood stool and urine samples
Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED required
Accredited Medical Assistant Certificate required
Bilingual English/Spanish required
12 years of Medical Assistant experience preferred
Excellent customer service and communication skills
Ability to work in a fast-paced healthcare environment
Passion for serving underserved communities
