Job Summary
Summary
The Family Nurse Practitioner is responsible for caring for patients maintaining accurate and current patient records and scheduling as well as administering follow-up appointments to patients as required. They work as a team with our nurses/medical assistants and physicians in delivering premium care to patients.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive patient assessments including medical histories and physical examinations
- Diagnoses and manage acute and chronic health conditions
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans in collaboration with supervising physicians
- Order perform and interpret diagnostic tests and laboratory results
- Prescribe medications and therapies in accordance with state regulations
- Educate patients on disease prevention treatment plans and medication management
- Document all patient encounters accurately in the electronic health record (EHR)
- Coordinate care with physicians specialists and other healthcare professionals
- Monitor patient progress and modify treatment plans as necessary
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA infection control and organizational policies
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and continuing education
- Perform other duties as assigned by leadership

Professional/Regulatory Requirements
- 3 years of Family Nurse Practitioner experience preferred
- Masters or Doctoral degree in Nursing from an accredited program
- Current certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP-C or FNP-BC)
- Active and unrestricted Louisiana APRN license
- Prescriptive authority and DEA registration
- Current BLS certification (ACLS preferred)
Skills
- Ability to communicate effectively in English both verbally and in writing.
- Basic computer knowledge.
Physical Demands
