Job Summary
Summary of Responsibilities
The director of food and beverage is responsible for managing all operations related to food and drink at the
hotel. Responsibilities include but arent limited to overseeing food and beverage products production sales
and overall quality. This includes sourcing vendors planning menus training staff and managing inventory.
Primary Responsibilities and Objectives
Develop and manage the food and beverage budget including revenue and expense forecasting cost
controls and financial reporting
Design and implement menus that meet the needs preferences and dietary restrictions of customers and
guests
Oversee food and beverage ordering receiving and inventory management ensuring adequate stock levels
and optimal pricing
Recruit train supervise and evaluate food and beverage staff including chefs cooks servers and bartenders
Oversee the development and implementation of food and beverage service procedures and standards that
ensure high-quality efficient and consistent service
Maintain compliance with all food and safety and sanitation regulations including training staff on food-safe
handling and storage practices
Collaborate with other departments including sales marketing and operations to develop and implement
promotional campaigns and events that drive food and beverage operations
Perform other duties as assigned
Education and Experience
Bachelors degree in hospitality management culinary arts or related field preferred
Ten plus years of experience in food and beverage preferably in a high-volume full-service restaurant or
hospitality environment
Proven track record of developing and implementing successful food and beverage programs that meet or
exceed revenue goals
Strong leadership and management skills with the ability to motivate and inspire teams to achieve high levels
of performance
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build positive relationships with
customers guests vendors and internal stakeholders
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to analyze financial data identify trends and
implement solutions

Proven ability to lead and mentor team members effectively
Stay up to date with the latest trends and practices in the hotel industry
Strong customer service and communication skills with knowledge of sales and marketing strategies
Ability to train and develop team members to increase skills and abilities in their respective areas as well as
cross-training to assist other team members
Set the example through a professional friendly attitude towards clients and associates timely responses to
clients and associates needs and observance of sales office standards
Passion for food and cooking techniques
Knowledge of inventory management and ordering
Knowledge of cost and labor systems
Required to complete and successfully pass the Avenue5 Fair Housing Diversity and Inclusion Training within

Scheduling
Required to maintain a regular schedule which may require working outside of business hours weekends and
non-traditional holidays
May be required to be on-call and aid during times of high demand
Environment
Exposure to an environment typically found in a hotel or restaurant
