Job Description:

The UF Health CancerInstituteis the 72nd NCI designated cancer center and the onlyone at a public university in the State of Florida. As a matrix cancer center we spanallof the University of Floridas 16 colleges pulling together a world-class multi-disciplinary membership of over 350 faculty and 150 staff to address the challenges of the cancer burden faced by the population we serve as we work together to find a cure.

As aCancer Clinical Biospecimen Support Unit Manageratthe UF Health CancerInstitute(UFHCI) youwill be responsible for managing and providing leadership for the UF Health Cancer Institute Clinical Biospecimen Support Unit including oversight of biobank operations laboratory services and clinical research specimen workflows as well as supervision of assigned staff. Strong leadership operational management experience in a clinical research or laboratory environment and the ability to work collaboratively with investigators clinical teams and institutional leadership are necessary for success in this role.

In your new role you willbe responsible forthe following:

  • Providing leadership and oversight of the UFHCI Clinical Biospecimen Support Unit including supervision of assigned staff performance management workload distribution and development of training and onboarding programs for clinical research and biorepository personnel.

  • Overseeing laboratory operations and specimen workflows including processing storage distribution quality assurance equipment maintenance and compliance with applicable regulations and institutional policies.

  • Managing the UFHCI Cancer Biorepository including specimen inventory SOP development budget coordination regulatory oversight and implementation of data and specimen management systems.

  • Coordinating biorepository governance activities including oversight committees specimen usage review approval of high-level requests and prioritization of collection strategies in collaboration with UFHCI leadership.

  • Serving as a technical and operational resource to clinical research teams investigators and physicians using the biobank to support their research related toproper processing storage and other laboratory procedures.

This is anexperiencedlevel position ideal for candidates withextensive experience in clinicalresearch operations laboratory management and/or biorepository or biobanking oversight including supervisory responsibility and regulatory compliance in these rolesoperateas part of our collaborative research enterprise and are fundamental to the progress of cancer research being conducted at the University of Florida.A complete job description will be provided to candidates selected for interview.

$87500 - $95000

Required Qualifications:

Knowledge/Experience:

  • Bachelors degree in Biology Molecular Biology Medical Laboratory Science or another related field.

  • Experience inclinical research operations biobanking specimen management or laboratory environments supporting clinical trials.

  • Experience withbiospecimen collection processing storage distribution and inventory management.

  • Experience ensuringcompliance with regulatory requirements and institutional research standards.

Skills/Abilities:

  • Leadership and oversight of clinical research or biospecimen support operations.

  • Management of laboratory workflows including specimen processing storage distribution and quality assurance.

  • Development of SOPs training materials and operational documentation to support standardized processes.

  • Coordination of specimen tracking systems and application of regulatory and institutional compliance requirements.

Professional clinical research (through SOCRA ACRP etc.) arerequiredat the earliest of 12 months from hire or eligibility.

Preferred:

Knowledge/Experience:

  • Masters degree inBiology Molecular Biology Medical Laboratory Science or another related field.

  • Eight (8)years of experience in biobanking sample management or clinical laboratory operations

  • Experience in biorepository governance clinical trials infrastructure or academic medical center environments

  • Experience with budgeting vendor coordination and laboratory operational management

  • Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills with multidisciplinary clinical and research teams

  • High ethical standards and ability to manage confidential and regulated research materials

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment

  • Forward-thinking adaptable and committed to continuous improvement in research operations

Skills/Abilities:

  • Proficiencywith Microsoft Office Suite and standard data management tools

  • Application of project management principles (planning delegation scheduling and quality control)

  • Experience supervising training or mentoring staff in laboratory or clinical research settings

  • Development and maintenance of SOPs workflows and quality assurance processes
